MiddleAgedMiami wrote:Well, I’m sitting in the waiting room at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach waiting to be taken back for my implant surgery at 7:30AM today. All kinds of anxiety and second thoughts, but I’ve done a ton of research and I’ve made my mind up.

I’ll provide my experiences here for the benefit of others along with before and after pictures. This forum has been very helpful to me as I’ve navigated my experience making this decision.

My background: I started dealing with situational ED around 3 years ago. I still have full natural ability, it just increasingly fails me in high stakes situations (new partners, very attractive partners, etc.). I used pills and then injections. The pills were hit and miss. And I’d have to use so many combined with heavy drinking that it wasn’t healthy. Injections worked almost every time, but I always had a 4+ hour erection that had to be taken down with more injections— not exactly fun. I was diagnosed with minor venous leakage.

I’m gay, so I have lots of opportunities for sex, but I found myself increasingly turning down hot ass because I wasn’t sure id be able to perform. So I decided that at 41, I don’t have unlimited time left of prime sexual life, and a perfectly working penis that didn’t work when I needed it most didn’t really work for me. So here I am.

My procedure is covered by my insurance thank goodness. I paid about $300 out of pocket toward my deductible. I’m having the procedure done with Dr. Billy Cordon, who comes highly recommended and who trained with Dr. Eid and uses the same “no touch” technique.

I’ll provide more updates after the surgery and in the weeks and months to come.

Bravo, Brother!
I can't begin to tell you how much fun you will soon have. Go into the bars with a few pumps in you and go for it! I didn't realize how much anxiety I had about being able to stay hard long enough. Now, even though I am far from fully healed, that is totally gone. I was worried about the fact that I had an implant, but everyone has loved it and the idea of it. About 40% want more info. You will be thrilled. Feel free to PM for more info.

Thank you Kevin, I was really encouraged by reading your experiences in your journal, and I appreciate this encouragement! As I said to my partner last night, “I may become a monster now that I have this thing!” lol. But in all seriousness not having to worry about not getting it up is already a big relief for me.

Thanks again!

Day 3

3/15/24

Yesterday was rough. I needed to demonstrate that I could urinate (vacate my bladder) after the catheter was removed and for the longest time I got nothing. It was a pretty miserable day trying and failing to pee. At one point they recathed me to drain the urine because there was too much. I started being able to push out tiny bits here and there, a total of 200 ml over several hours, and the doctor decided I could go home, with the instructions that if I wasn’t able to go more soon I’d have to come back. Thankfully today every time I piss, it’s getting stronger and longer— whew!

So now I’m discharged. I should note that my partner and I run a pretty successful and active small business, so he was engaged out in the field when I was released at 7:30pm. That meant I had to take an Uber to the pharmacy which closed at 9pm in the northern section of miami where we live. Only about 9 miles from the hospital, but in Miami this means a nearly hour drive. On top of that the Uber driver, who was a very nice older man, but completely clueless and painfully slow, somehow got us caught in a staff parking lot, had to have security let us out, and then took about 10 minutes just to navigate out of the hospital complex. Once out, of course I-95 is basically shut down, so we have to take Biscayne Blvd all the way up. I should mention that I’m wearing pants now, and my dick is way too sore to point up, so I’m walking hunched over to hide the protruding erection and I’m in extreme pain. Fun.

I finally get to the pharmacy and get my prescriptions, get my next Uber home, which is only about 2 miles, so 10 minutes.

Once home I see that my penis and testicles are much more swollen than before, so I went into my home office where I also have a bed, and I laid down. My partner made sure I had clean freshly laundered sheets and blankets and that the room was clean— I’m being fanatical about avoiding infections (I’ve read too many horror stories here). I tried wearing very loose boxer shorts but they were too restrictive, so I opted for a light sheet draped over my penis.

Today is shaping up to be a much better day. After washing my hands with Hibiclens I followed my discharge instructions of locating the pump and gently pulling down — not sure I’m making any difference, it seems like it’s where it should be. The swelling has gone way down, but my scrotum is still pretty swollen. The swelling in the mons pubis and penis itself has also greatly gone down, but is still present.

Other observations:

I’m very happy with pump placement. I asked for discreet placement towards the back and that’s exactly what I got, it’s behind my testicles.

Even now at three days out and pumped up, my penis looks fairly normal considering all it’s been through. It still feels like my dick and I’m still able to move it without touching it— albeit it weakly at the moment, but I can tell that once I fully heal things will be excellent.

My penis is not numb and it’s not cold. Two major concerns going in.

While my penis is still sore, I am today able to bend it up to my abdomen, that could not have happened yesterday.

Overall I am very impressed with the skill of Dr. Cordon. The incision on my scrotum is perfectly aligned with the natural seam so there will be no appearance of a scar. My size right now looks like I’ll get everything back I once had. I’m optimistic.

Day 4

3/16/24

The past couple days have been pretty easy. I have been getting by really well on 600 mg of ibuprofen (Advil) along with the other three prescriptions from my doctor (antibiotic, something for urination, and I’ve completely blanked on what the other one is for). I’ve taken the opioid pain meds at night only to ensure a good nights sleep, but I’ll cut those off today. I like to have a stash of those meds in the house for other pain emergencies that come up— and they’re still good up to 5 years past the expiration date. I still had some left over from another surgery two years ago— so the stash grows! I just like knowing it’s there if I have a dental emergency or a severe migraine, etc.

I have not left the house yet since returning home on the evening of 3/14. But my pain level and sensitivity have gone way down. So I will try to take a walk today at the park as long as I can comfortably conceal my penis, and I’ll probably go out to dinner.

I think my recovery is going about as best as can be expected. I’m fortunate to be otherwise healthy, and I’ve had no signs of infection.

I’ve been fanatical about keeping down there clean and anything that comes in contact clean. I spray Lysol on the toilet before I sit down (after 30 seconds I wipe it off before I sit). I wash my hands with hibiclens before handling my penis. And I’m keeping my bedding and my clothing freshly laundered. So far so good, while there is swelling, there is no discharge and no sign of infection.

Observations:

Prior to getting the implant I wondered how long I could stay inflated (hard) before my dick would turn cold— because to my mind now that blood wasn’t filling the corpora the saline would get cold after a time away from the reservoir located within the body. To my delight, I’ve been pumped up now for 4 days and my penis is still warm to the touch.

I have been gently pulling down on the pump every day as instructed in my discharge paperwork, but I don’t think I’m making any difference. It appears to be living where it wants to live (in the back and about mid way to a little lower down).

My balls are very swollen, but I can still find the pump— obviously I’m not trying to pump or deflate or anything like that.

Bending my penis up becomes easier each day, and once the sutures are out of my scrotum I can tell it will be much easier.

This is the longest I’ve gone without jerking off or having sex in many years. I can’t wait for that first release. It will be by myself for sure. I’ll take my time really getting to know the ins and outs of my new hardware before I start to roll it out to my regular hookups, new hookups and of course my partner.

Out of morbid curiosity I just put on some porn and much to my delight the head of my dick filled up and became engorged. Was temping to lightly jerk off, but I resisted.

I’ll keep posting here as important milestones come up, but it won’t be daily at this point. I go in for my first activation and to have my staples removed at the end of this month— so there will definitely be an update then.

Looks like your healing well,I am having implant surgery 4/11 and the closer it gets the more I fret about it. How it will heal, pain level, infection, and def size loss. You mention you didnt seem to lose significant length which is very ecouraging to hear! Would you be willing to share length/girth stats.
Many years on Viagra until it didnt help,I moved onto Trimix 5 years ago and it now has limited effect.Time to move on to The Implant.

I'm the same story, but Im straight

I'm 40 but had issues since 30

used viagra for 10 years now barely does anything, cant be trusted with partners, used trimix it works but again i need to use more, injection is more painful (scar tissue forming maybe) and one time i also had a 4 hour erection, luckily i had the reversal and injected like 8 times to make it gown down, didnt have to go to ER, but that shit scared me, i was trying everything to get it down, pseudo pill, caffeines, i took like 4 pseudo, icing, shit wouldn't go down, but other times i would go down normally or only last one hour

im thinking of going for malleable tho i dont want to deal with the failures and i have also been turning down women and opportunities for years due to not being able to get hard properly or having confidence in my penis

at our age we are pretty much middle age and life could end any moment

Day 6

3/18/24

Swelling! Dealing with the swelling in my scrotum and foreskin is a real pain in the ass. If I lay down and elevate my pelvis and apply ice packs the swelling goes down fairly quickly, only problem is I don’t think I should be in bed all day long. I would prefer to up and walking around, but when I do I get major swelling. Any tips or tricks any of you have would be welcome.

Other than the swelling, I seem to be doing pretty well. The urge to masturbate is great— I haven’t gone this long without getting off in I don’t know how long. But I’ve been able to hold off. I have 10 more days till my follow up appointment.

Just to give an idea of how wildly things can swing, these two pics were taken about an hour apart. At 10AM I had major swelling, and by 11am with ice packs it went way down.

I am delighted to hear how quickly your symptoms are subsiding. There is no chance in the world I could have gone to dinner so soon. I didn't get out of bed for 3 days (doctor's orders), and barely for 2 weeks. I was obsessive about infection too. I used gauze and surgical tape to keep the wound covered, but mine was 90 degrees different than yours, so I don't know if it would work at all given your scar location. I also kept it covered with an antiseptic cream similar to Neosporin, called Polysporin, but with one less ingredient that my doctor warned could irritate. You could of course use that regardless of covering the scar. Keep up the great progress!

Thanks! I really found all your posts very helpful when I was preparing for my procedure. Most of the guys who post here are in straight traditional marriages, so reading about your experiences, which more closely resemble mine (gay, open marriage, multiple partners, etc.) was unbelievably helpful.
