Diabetic and no issues with 2017 implant. It failed June 2024, new implant early Dec 2024 and no issues yet. Surgeon this time did lot of blood monitoring and cultures as a proactive approach.
Second IPP, December 2024 -Coloplast after failed AMS. 2013-Prostate cancer, Robotic Prostatectomy; Diabetic, Crohns Disease; Peyronies; ED treated with Xiaflex with no result. AMS IPP 12/2017; bladder sling 12/2017 for incontinence caused by RP.

That's good to hear, who is your Dr? I'm not sure how they are analyzing these cultures, video I posted earlier talks about how these bacteria/fungi can behave different outside our body.

Found this to be interesting regarding biofilms....

Bacterial biofilms: development, dispersal, and therapeutic strategies in the dawn of the postantibiotic era.

Inside the host, the matrix protects biofilm bacteria from exposure to innate immune defenses and antibiotic treatments.....
.....Especially in immunocompromised patients, the manifestation of infections by opportunistic biofilm-forming pathogens can be devastating, leading to severe symptoms and, in many instances, death.
Escape from the Matrix—Dispersing Mechanisms
Within the mature biofilm there is a bustling community that actively exchanges and shares products that play a pivotal role in maintaining biofilm architecture and providing a favorable living environment for the resident bacteria. However, as biofilms mature, dispersal becomes an option. Besides passive dispersal, brought about by shear stresses, bacteria have evolved ways to perceive environmental changes and gauge whether it is still beneficial to reside within the biofilm or whether it is time to resume a planktonic lifestyle. Biofilm dispersal can be the result of several cues, such as alterations in nutrient availability, oxygen fluctuations and increase of toxic products, or other stress-inducing conditions.......
.....Biofilm bacteria are particularly recalcitrant to antibiotic treatments not only owing to increased transmission of resistance markers within the biofilm community, but also because of diffusion limitations posed by the extracellular matrix, antibiotic inactivation by high metal ion concentration and low pH, and the presence of metabolically inactive persister cells that survive treatment. Combined, these attributes make biofilm bacteria up to 1000-fold more tolerant and/or resistant to antibiotics than planktonic cells....

I’ve seen one person get an infection in the 4th month after surgery. Has anyone got one later than this or are most seen within the first 2 months.

Fill out your signatures, and re phrase the question. Are you talking about during the surgery phase or after?
67years,fighting ed for over twenty years. A sever break, vit E, pataba, Viagra, massage Ved cilas, and I'm tired- throwing in the towel, Op for implant Mar 18, 2021 AMS LGX 18 x12 + 1 3cm RTE, gained girth and length, very glad I took the hard step.

Well, an infection can manifest even 5+ years after, though it's rare.
"Signs and symptoms of a penile implant infection may be subtle or dramatic. Fishman and colleagues found that 56% of infections were manifest within 7 months of surgery, 36% between 7 and 12 months, and 2.6% after 5 years".

Yeah I believe you’ve posted those stats in a different thread and so I wanted to see if anyone here has got an infection after 4 months. Wondering if that data is old or if they see similar numbers these days.

Sorry, I don't remember. Whether the data is old or new, the fact remains that infections can manifest at any time. What's interesting is that after 5 years post-op, advancements in current surgical techniques or protocols don't matter as much as they do with infection prevention in the initial months. I think there are no guarantees, and I wish newer studies would prove that wrong.

It only manifests after the surgery. I see you had infections twice? Were they able to figure out why and was it the same bacteria that caused both?

Really a small group of men hear to try to extract useful information from. Both in the added requests and the initial poll. Small group studies have a large percentage error and are considered so much so to be worthless by a large section of researchers. It is very easy to intentionally or unintentionally skew the results of studies especially ones with very small numbers.
This study is my go to. It has results from 14,969 men implanted between 1995 and 2014. https://www.garber-online.com/pdf/Highe ... ctions.pdf
I cannot find the publication but I do remember that you are at a higher risk of infection over the first year. As the year progresses the risk decreases to a very low risk rate that remains the same from the beginning of year 2 until the IPP fails. This is the reason I told myself I would not judge the outcome for one year post op.
Injections failed. Implanted 3-21-18 AMS 700 LGX 21 + 1 RTE 100 cc reservoir 6.5" L 5" G Dr. Kramer.
