$500 is a scam. Avoid those men's health clinics or online pharmacies with "reps." They are a money grab. You can get trimix prescribed by pretty much any urologist. The visit will be covered by insurance and the prescription can be ordered from a compounding pharmacy (the urologist will know) for $150 or less per 5 ml bottle, typically enough for 25-50 doses. There is a thread on here discussing trimix cost.
Yes, trimix works well for many guys with venous leak, but you might not even need it, perhaps just a change in injection technique or a larger dose or stronger concentration of alprostadil. A urologist should be able to guide you in this.
If you don't have a partner, I would recommend getting the injection technique and dosing right solo. You don't have to do a testing run on a big date.
I understand your feelings. I have been threatening to get the surgery for more than 2 years but I wouldn't even consider it if injections were still working well. Injections take some adjustment in the beginning to find your dose and technique. Many guys have good outcomes with implant but it is still a drastic and irrevocable surgery with a failure rate (1 in 100 or 200 for good surgeons) that would never be considered acceptable if it were a plane trip or a car's braking system. The dissatisfaction rate (1 in 10) is also pretty significant, and many guys on here even with great surgeons have needed or decided to get revisions.
