Early 30's. Had my malleable Coloplast Genesis implanted today by Dr. Casey McCraw at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. He uses the infrapubic method. After surgery I had a lot of pain so they gave me stronger meds. Most of the pain went away quickly but unfortunately the meds made me feel nauseous, which is common. Every staff member I interacted with did a great job making me feel as comfortable as possible. The staff requires you to urinate before you can leave the hospital but even after drinking a lot of fluids and waiting a few hours I was unable to do so. I figured this meant that they would put in a catheter, and I have read about how painful those have been for other guys on here, so I lied and told them that I was able to urinate. I ONLY did this because I did not think anything was actually wrong. I have had trouble urinating for drug tests in the past, and I did not feel any blockage, it just felt like I didn't have to go. I also know that painkillers can make you unable to urinate. I am NOT saying that anyone else should do this and I knew that if I still couldn't urinate at home I would have to take a trip to the ER. Luckily I was right, and I was able to urinate after being at home for a while. It was painful, but for me it was not the razorblade feeling that some have described at all. Most of the pain is just right when the stream starts. I am laying on my couch now and I am not in any pain. I have a good amount of swelling, but the incision is not bad and looks like it will heal well. Before my surgery Dr. McCraw was performing the same operation on another guy in his early 30's, so we are definitely not alone! The hospital does not allow you to leave in an Uber but I did. I gave the staff a fake name and number for a friend who was picking me up. Again, I DO NOT think you should do this, but it is a last resort if you want to keep your surgery private or you truly don't have anyone to drive you. Here's the best news, even with the swelling I can tell that I did not lose much, if any length! I think that if I get some engorgement I will be at my same length as before, which was just over 6 inches. As far as girth, Dr. McCraw told me right before surgery that he always tries to fit 13mm rods if it is safe to do so. The nurse said that in his notes Dr. McCraw used 13mm, 19.5cm rods, but she was not sure if that was the final measurement. I will ask him if that is right and give you all an update on Monday when I have my follow up appointment.
