Even though I cannot speak directly for Clavell, I remember I asked him about this. He only places drains when doing revision surgery and he has to remove the old reservoir.
He explained that the drain is placed to "suck" blood and fluid after surgery. Most of the blood comes from the corporotomy and he does things in a way that the corporotomy is "shut closed" and "water tight". The gauze around the scrotum that he puts in afterwards keeps things tight to avoid swelling developing.
Ok much appreciate the info. By the way when were you able to cycle and if you don't mind could you share your girth? I'm 4.5 inches mid shaft. Still going with Titan which Clavell agrees with. But still a bit apprehensive about dog ears. Not the look but pain at the kink points and eventual tissue decay. I had chatted with a fellow FT member with similar girth as mine who got his surgery from Clavell last Jan and surprisingly he has almost zero dog ears.
55 years. Using bimix 0.4 units. Works well but inconsistent and very inconvenient. Seriously considering an implant. 6.4 inches bone pressed length to tip, 5 inches girth base, 4.5 inches girth mid-shaft.
