When is it time to get an implant?

StandUpGuy, FWIW, I started getting/feeling some engorgement 3 months post-op, felt noticeable engorgement around 8-9 months post-op, and around a year into it starting feeling a lot of engorgement, and, my wife noticed it also I lost a lot of sensation from the surgery, and as the sensation recovered the engorgement seemed to come along with it.

Engorgement is only part of a natural erection, but it does feel great.

It’s hard to imagine not having a physical reaction that accompanies your desire for sex. If I loose that will I even want sex? I know that doesn’t seem to be a problem by all the accounts on this forum, but still it’s tough to know that as fact from where I stand.

That is very encouraging although I know I wouldn’t be able to count on that. If I could it would really help my decision. I was also thinking about TEP as an add on option but I suspect that would really decrease the odds of engorgement given that is purposely adding more trauma to the tunica.
I just did a search of engorgement on this implant forum and found quite a number of comments on this in the past so I wonder how common it might be.

StandUpGuy, I could have sworn there was a survey on sensation and/or engorgement, but when I did a quick search I didn't see it. It seems like most guys experience engorgement at least after many months of healing.

The forum has thrashed this before. Generally the the most frequent reply was "I should of done it a long time before I did!"

True, but new users usually ask instead of searching, and everybody wants individual responses. It’s fine, most forums answer the same common questions many times.

From my perspective it is really helpful to be able to tell my story and get the directed feedback, even though it might be a common question. And I’ve read a few in the history of this forum as I imagine many others have done.
I REALLY appreciate all of the thoughtful responses to my situation!

But when you still get aroused with the implant inflated, do you still get orgasm? Did your doc suggest using cialis with an implant as other docs have with their patients?

Pleasure, sensation, orgasm, and ejaculation is unchanged. Just like before. Feels great. Actually… it feels BETTER than before. My brain seems to interpret the rigid shaft of my inflated implant as “OMG! I’M SO TURNED ON!!!” And I enjoy sex more because I can focus on pleasing my partner or doing whatever feels best at the time, including slowing down or pausing. And I won’t lose my hardon.
