Thanks to all the well wishers and Cajun Jeff for updating my status after going bionic. I got home last night (wed) after having the Artificial Sphincter and Inflatable Penile Implant done tuesday. The 350 mile drive home was a lu-lu. My wife at first wanted me to take more pain pills or anything that would stop my backseat driving but somehow we both survived. About all I can report so far is that I can still pee and everything hurts. Surprisingly I feel a lot better today after a good nights sleep in my own bed. Had to get up every two hours to pee but still it was as good rest. In recovery I was surprised when I woke up with some searing pain right above my pubic bone where there was an incision. The nurse took care of that in short order. Turns out that my AUS doctor ,who was the lead surgeon, places the resevoir though this incission rather than the more popular way where it is placed though the upper scrotal area where the incision is internal. I guess either way there is pain? We talked about this after and he said he felt this was safer as the resevoir is not placed blindly and the incision is made though some tough fascia where he puts some "very" strong stitches. Makes sense to me, plus he said the internal way leaves the tubing in a place where hernias can develop. My AUS doctor was Timothy Boone at Methodist Houston and The IPP was done by Dr. Larry Lipshultz of Baylor. Just like others have said, yesterday my scrotum was tight and swollen like a grapefruit (small one) and nothing inside could be felt. Today it has looosened up a bit and I can get my fingers around the penile pump but not the AUS pump yet. The penile pump is low in the scrotum and seems comfortable to the touch and Tmoving it does not cause pain. The bulb of the pump is at the bottom. The tubing from the penile cylinders is a little sore and some of the scrotum skin is numb. Color is still OK. Surprisingly the penis is comfortable and not sore except a little bit at the cylinder tips. All in all the pain is very manageble today whereas yesterday it was a little beyond uncomfortable. I think the AUS part is a little more painful than the IPP, but it is hard to say where one pain starts.
The doctors and the hospital staff were great. So now I am just a normal bionic guy with plastic tubing like a bowl of spagetti and two pumps, wow!

It's now day four and the swelling has gone down a lot. I can hold both pumps with my fingers and much to my relief all the tubes and pumps seem to fit and I think they will be comfortable at some point not too far off. The sorest point is the tubing coming out of the penis cylinders, the tubes extend to the sides about where and the ends of the "T" incision in my scrotum begin. The AUS "t" incision extends to the rear to not far from my rectum and it is not painful now. The suprapubic incission for the reseviors is still sore like any abdominal incision would be. My testicles are hiding in there somewhere and only occasionly give a twinge. All in all it seems to be going pretty much like the others have reported.

Scot, I thought I had three incisions then I thought two which included a large "T" but after feeling around it is just two. I have about a 3" incision above my pubic bone on the lower abdomen. There appears to be an incision that goes across my scrotum not too far below the base on my penis and then another insision from the rear of the scrotum and extends back almost to my rectum. But even this description could be wrong. To settle this I need a mirror, I guess.
Anyway, I am still doing ok on day 5 pain wise. I have never in past surgeries taken pain pills past my discharge. This time I took the advice on the ones who have gone on before. I take the pain meds aevery six hours weather I think I need them or not and pan on continueing this past at least till the 7 day mark.
