Day 13 post implants, AUS/IPP. I am planning to go by car for a IPP follow-up in Houston wed or day 15, so today I went shopping with my wife and some visting as well as a test run( my first time out of the house). I thought I was done with any bad pain but today was bad . Got home and got on the couch with ice packs and pain pills. So the trip to Houston in two days I will be sure to stay in the car as much as possible with little as possible standing and walking.
I had very little penis pain or soreness at the beginning but in the last three or four days my penis is beginning to hurt. My theory is with my penis up against my abdomen with a huge urinary pad wrapped around it the constant 24/7 pressure of the jockey pouch briefs is begining to take a toll. THey are fairly elastic and tight and the big burrito in front is adding to the pressure and over time has made my penis sore. It's just a guess and I will try some different undercloths to see if that helps. Most of the online advise here as well as well as other places is from people who just had the IPP without the AUS too. Since my AUS is not activated i have the incontinence issues, hence the big urinary pads. Another thing that got me thinking about the extra pressure is yesterday I wanted to give my old external catheter and leg bag a try to see if that would be useful for the houston drive. The longer I wore the formerly comfortable condon catheter the more it hurt, by days end it was driving me crazy. I have to say the it was too tight due to the expanded girth that I now have, but the next size up is do big it looks like a joke and wearing that looked like it would leak at some point. But that experince got me thinking about the pressure, my former penis didn't have any hard parts inside but now the cyilnders (LGX) which have relatively hard tips as well and a hard section where the tubes connect and this makes thing like external pressure different now.
This was a setback today, but overall i think the progress is good and the pumps and tubing does not botter me much anymore.

Ron:

I hope everything is good for you. You are pretty brave to have 2 surgeries done at the same time. I only had the AMS 700 LGX put in at Vanderbilt on 12/8/10. It felt like two soda straws put in my penis at first with the hard plastic pump in my scrotum. The real painful part is now pretty well gone. I have to buy different underwear that gives more support, but that is small price to pay for the good results that i have received from the surgery. My family doc has changed my heart medication for angina to a stronger beta-blocker because the side effects of ED won't be a problem like it use to be. I can't use nitro-glycerin tablets because it gives me pounding headaches, so the only option left is to use a stronger beta-blocker. Everything has a way of working out if you just keep working at it. Hang in there.

It's Day 18 already! Looking back, the two week mark was when I began to think all the stuff is actually is now part of me and getting bearable and now, almost comfortable. I am noticing the two pumps and assorted tubing much less and pain is only just a twinge or two now and then. In the early mornings I am still getting a little pain or pressure feeling in the base of my penis starting where the tubes enter the cylinders and going further in. Not bad, but mainly different. I still think this might be something like trying to have an morning woody but of course my penis doesn't expand anymore. I went for my two week follow up at Baylor Houston and it was a very short visit. A resident who was part of the op. gave me a quick visual check and then pumped me up 4 or 5 pumps then quickly deflated. Just a system check to be sure it was working, I guess. The pump-up was not painfull but it wasn't complete either but the deflate was painful as my doc wrung out the fluid like it was a dish sponge. The tips of the LGX cylinders are solid and pretty firm and this part doesn't like being squeezed just yet. Maybe the Titan that does not have solid tips would get comfortable quicker? But I liked the idea of the solid tips when I looked at the demo units, mainly I think because the LGX tips are rounded and the Tian tips were almost pointed. But what do I now? Swelling is almost gone but some areas of my scrotum still thickened but not bad. All in all bad a real bad experience to not fun either. I definately think that having both AUS and IPP done at once is a bigger deal than just one. But i think worth it to just have one operation and recouperation.

Uh, the doc didn't give you any direction about using the pump now... pumping it up a few times a day or anything like that to help prevent scar tissue?

Nope. just said to come back in 3-4 weeks for activation. So, I'm a little over two weeks post op, should I being some cycling on the unit? I have actualy done that a few times out of curiosity since he did it but only just part way inflated I would guess.

I am basically at the 5 week mark now, and things are going well. My AUS was activated last week and is working great except I have sometimes a burning type pain where the cuff is placed but it seems to be better now. The IPP is comfortable, surprisingly the pump has found a comfortable nesting place and I don't notice having it and that is great. The base of penis pain, that was probaly the worst part, is long gone and I have been pumping it and that is feeling good too. I have not pumped to the max and will let the doc do that but now I don't think it will hurt more than a little bit, if at all. I haven't made the activation appointment that is due next tuesday but will do that today or tomorrow. I don't care if that is a week or so late as my main issue was the AUS. The only things that coninues to be a bother is the flacid state and kinks in the the cylinders just above the hard section where the tubes go in. I am able to squeeze as hard as i want to fully deflate the cylinders so I am not sure how much more flexible I will be but it is not bad now, just different. The kinks I call them are where there the cylinders flatten out while bending in the fully deflated flacid state and this to is not bad and this is the only times I am aware of the new parts. I am sure I am going to like the final results.
