Considering an implant and surgeon

I suffered from ED for two years after pills and injections all played out, and I finally got Peyronies. That was it for me. I did a lot of research and decided my best choice was Dr. Douglas Milam at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In addition to penile implants, he also specializes in resolving Peyronies during the same surgery (otherwise there is no cure for Peyronies). I am one year out from my implant and am totally pleased with the outcome. I had some loss of length due to Peyronies going into the surgery, but right now I'm up to 5 inches in length and girth and I have a straight and very hard penis. Dr. Milam says twice-a-day inflations should help further with length and girth and improving blood flow to the glans. I am 68 years old, married and extremely happy to have returned to an active sex life.

I had surgery Wednesday with Dr Kramer in Baltimore. This is after years of convincing fellow docs that it wasnt normal to have unsustainable erections just because I was in my 40s and 50s. I began to feel like I was a degenerate to keep asking for help. 33 years married to a beautiful woman who still excites me but unable to perform was unacceptable to me so I kept pushing back asking for help. Side effects from pills that were unbearable. VED uncomfortable and awkward. Shots worked but if at the right dose to keep an erection throughout love making they wouldnt go away for 3-4 hours making me ready to go to the ER a couple of times. I also had forgotten shots on trips when I actually had time to use them and there was always the should I take a shot question that took away some of the spontaneity. That said I did have the shots and lovemaking wasnt a mad rush to ensure I stayed hard long enough so I struggled with the decision to permanently commit all in to the implant. That said with my wife's support I had the implant Wednesday with Dr Kramer. I chose him even though he is a 9 hour car ride away because of his volume, positive results overall and frankly his availability to speak with me and answer questions.

Post op Day 3 doesnt make me a success story yet as infections and issues can still arise for weeks and months but so far this has been much less to go through than I thought. Dr Kramer and the team even in the middle of all the issues in Baltimore this week were spectacular. Being a physician with a wife who is an ICU nurse we have worked in several hospitals from 1000 bed to 35 beds and this group is way up there.

Oh and I had a spontaneous partial erection this AM and even though I told myself erect at any length was better than limp I measured. And again this was uninflated though much harder with the implants than any I have had without injections in years. Came in at 7 inches by 5 3/4 like before. I figure they may be some scarring so final results arent in but again so far so good. Stick with a high volume doc that you feel really cares about you and doesnt feel ED is normal or that you are asking for something he/she wouldnt in the same situation. Good luck with the process.
