Please note that there are risks associated with any medicine. Consult your doctor before becoming frightened about using injections for fear of Peyronie's. At the start of your injection therapy, your urologist should have discussed how to avoid Peyronie's and other problems:

1. Inject three times a week or less.
2. Always alternate sides
3. Apply pressure at the point of injection for 3-5 minutes after injections.

It's true that some of us bend the rules (no pun intended!) at times, including injecting more than three times a week during say, a vacation. Still others take truly dangerous chances by always injecting on one side.

Also note that Peyronie's can also be caused by issues totally unrelated to injections.

My point is, if we are going to discus "warnings" about injections and Peyronie's, then let's have a well-rounded, helpful discussion, and not just focus on fear.

As for implants, they are hardly without risks. No. 1, it's a very invasive surgery with a sometimes difficult recovery, and is considered a major operation. There's also the possibility of significant infection or malfunction of the device. There are men on this forum who have had implant surgery multiple times in 2-3 years because of those reasons. Fortunately, implant surgery goes well for most men, and can mark a changing point in their lives. But there are significant risks, just as there are with injections.

Here's the bottom line: As we all battle ED, let's share information that is balanced with the good, and the bad. There is no risk-free solution for ED, and we all must make the choice that is best for us as individuals.

For most of us who are enjoying injections with no problems, there is no going back. The risk of incurring Peyronie's, however slight, is better than the inability to have sex at all.

I've brought up the subject of scarring before, even before it happened to me, and folks said I was sounding unnecessarily alarming, just like now.

There is a risk. It happened to me after just a year of injecting, and injecting maybe once every two weeks. And only injecting once per session.

This is my story. Make of it what you will.

My hunch is that few people here would doubt that scarring and Peyronie's are a risk with injections -- just as infection, device malfunction and possible repeated surgeries are a risk with implants. Again, there are no risk-free ED solutions, not even Viagra.
