If you stayed at hotel first night did you remove and was it difficult? If I decide to stay at hospital first night, the staff will remove the next morning. I'd prefer to go to hotel but not sure about taking catheter out myself.

I had to go back to the doctor's office the next day to have the catheter removed--and not a minute too soon, either That thing hurt like hell. My wife sat next to me and read the 23rd Psalm to me aloud while it was being removed.

I was operated on Friday, spent the night in the hospital. The night with the catheter was not a good night, when I felt pain I did Kegels to help. Plus they also had to change my meds two or three times before I felt comfortable. Saturday morning Dr. Cornell inspected my IPP, deflated and inflated it. Then he told me to take a deep breath and removed the catheter. No problems.

IMHO I would spend the night in the hospital. I had to have my meds changed several times to relieve the pain. All I had to do was push the button and the nurse would get me the meds I needed. Since I had an IV in they could inject the meds so they would get immediately in my system. I cannot imagine from a hotel having to get the doctor on the phone to call in meds to a pharmacy for me to pickup them up in the middle of the night, multiple times.

Mine was removed the day of surgery just before I went home by a gorgeous young nurse. If there was any pain I didn't notice. lol
Seriously, no problem. They slide right out as others have said.
