What is the probability of using implants for about 13~15 years?

before my implan, i have met 3 gentlmans in my region...
they have implant and helped me in my surgery..
one implant has failed after 6 years, another after 7 years, another 7.5 years. ( Two Titan and one AMS).
If i believe on medical statistics, it says for 10 implants, 7 lasts 10-12 years vs 3 lasts less.
So..i Was so unlucky to know the only 3 negative cases? Or maybe I gave them bad luck! ?
I just do not believe in these statistics. Or they concern only older people wich use implant once a week.

3 years, 10 years, 5 years, 12 years........if and when it fails my only concern will be how quickly I can get it replaced.......that's how good it is!!

I never trust any studies conducted by implant device manufacturers (or by doctors who implant them). Their income is directly affected by putting a positive spin on the data....

I expected my first implant to last at least 10 years, maybe forever.... Sadly, it blew out after just over 4 years.... I don't expect my new one to last any longer...

I wonder if they had told you it would likely last 5 years, would you have still done it?

For me, guys who have an implant for 10 o more years, don't write in the forum to say: "hey guys, my life Is great and I have an implant for 14 or 15 years"

Mine lasted 12 years. I had it replaced in 2014 and the second one is working great, too!

There are some other factors that are not being considered:

1) if your implant has been working for 10 years, chances are you're not going to be hanging out on an implant forum. Whereas if your implant fails, you will likely come here.

2) The implants that are failing today after X number of years are older models. You would think improvements in design should cause newly implanted models to outlast their older predecessors.

3) Most of the guys being implanted are in their 60s and 70s. Many will expire before their implants fail.

Or, if "your implant has been working for 10 years" (like mine), you are here in order to encourage others who are either considering an implant or who have questions about their implants.

I got my implant at age 53 (I had my prostate removed at age 51, after having a questionable PSA test at age 50 -- the first time I had my PSA checked, and my good urologist considered many factors before giving me the option of a prostatectomy or something else or active surveillance [sometimes called watchful waiting]. We all need to remember that only a questionable PSA is not a good enough reason to consider having the prostate removed, and good if not most urologists already know that.)

Hey there is another guy in this forum who has had implants for about 28 years, and he got his first implant when he was 18 yo!
He is linebackerJ and he wrote this:

"I have been bionic since I was almost 18.
First implant was in 1988 and failed in 1999
Second one lasted till 2007 and replaced in 2007
Third one lasted till late 2015 and was replaced last month. Revision was done on the most recent implant yesterday but there was no need to change it just get it back into place.

As for upgrades I only know the last 2. I went from a 18 cm AMS 700CX with 1cm rear tip extenders to a 18cm AMS700 LGX with 3cm RTE's. "
