Jump.ship, I suspect your confusion is by not taking into account the physical differences between men. There is a wide range of penis head sizes & styles. The cruses vary a lot in depth. The RTE's gives the surgeon a tool to fine tune the implants overall length, adjust for the crus depth & make sure the tubes are positioned correctly.
The fact that both manufacturers use the same system pretty much proves to me that RTE's are a valuable & needed feature to get a truly customized installation. They are not necessarily a bad thing to have.
