Gt1956 wrote:I think a better way to say your answer is. International insurance companies won't pay American medical claims. In the USA, agreements are made between the medical people & the insurance companies as to what procedures are covered & at what price. It would be highly unusual for an international company to have those agreements in place across the USA.

This is true. I live abroad, my know there are countless private international insurance companies covering treatment in every country --- except for the USA.
Why? USA medical cost often ten times cost of everywhere on the planet.

You might have a hard time proving that claim. What an insurance company & a medical provider settle on a final price is a closely guarded secret. Its considered proprietary business info & literarily no mortal man has access to that info.
But yes, on first look the "list" price is scary high. Do you ever wonder why the cash price for self pay implants can be under $20,000usd? Do you really believe that any insurance will pay $50k or more for a procedure that the hospital will gladly accept $20k for? They aren't that stupid.

I am speaking in general terms, not (at all) for this implant surgery.

For example, I am in Tokyo. Had an MRI checking my prostate just a few months ago. Cost was $80 for the MRI, got the DVD, and the doctors looked everything over and gave me an analysis. How much would that cost in the USA?

I've had hernia operation, groin, right & left sides. Cost was $1800, including a night stay in the hospital. The way medical works here, patient pays 30%, state pays 70%. I've had root canal before, cost under $100. Here they practice 'pain-free' dentistry, and last I checked 'pain-free dentistry' not even offered in US, after all, why should insurance co's pay the doctor more money for pain free treatment? And yes, the root canal treatment was indeed pain free. I've had countless cavities here filled for $20 to $50. I've had friends of mine here who have had even cancer treatments. Cost is a few thousand dollars, and medical care here is excellent.

Probably most importantly, the Japanese government regulates the prices hospitals / doctors charge. System is run by the government and as simple as can be. No worries if youre w/ a doctor who is out of "network" (whatever that means). Working in Japan, employer automatically must (by law) insure all its employees. That said, Japan is way behind on implant surgery and I would never get it done here. No medical system is perfect.

im 29 so ill be looking at $100,000, $100,000 for 100% dependable erections is definitely worth it. costs should also get cheaper as the technology advances.

once those bluetooth enabled prothesis is available, the price for the manual one should drop significantly.

I've had plenty of American dental work. All of it was painless. Even my root canal was very pain free. Free enterprise serves the demand. The proof seems to be that you're searching for an implant doctor. You are not being served.
You are focusing on the many myths that abound about the American healthcare. You are paying far more for your healthcare than you believe. Where do you think your goverment gets the money to pay your healthcare. They get it from you in the form of taxes.

As I stated, the government regulates prices. It therefore does not cost an additional yen or penny in additional taxes. Government pays 70%, I pay 30%. Also, my total taxes here that I am paid last year totaled 17%. Regardless, we are now off topic.

The topic was that International insurance does cover medical for everywhere on the planet except for the USA. This statement made was completely true. I should know since I have considered international private insurance and know the ins and outs of them.

You will have to put $40000 in savings in case you need future revisions, you never know how long your implant will last, is inpredictible

My 2nd revision came in at $105.000. Insurance negotiated down to $48,000 and my co-pay was $3,100. Insurance is Anthem BCBS Corporate Buy-Up HMO. My surgery was a bit more costly due to errors created by less experienced surgeon for the first two implants.

According to the doctor I spoke to, the AMS has a five year warranty, and the Titan has a lifetime warranty. Of course, you still have to pay the surgeon for this work. I am going with the Titan with the additional warranty, hence save half the cost, granted I do know that all companies have ways to weasel out of these.
