Tankermans Journey
Re: Tankermans Journey
thanks dave, yes I am going to have to find a better uro I dont like being miss lead, I wrote him a email asking how many implants he does per year and he wrote back that he does 10 per year I am so disappointed, I geuss he has to tell the truth when he is writing an email because its on record. I just cant let someone with that much limited experiance work on that part of my body or any other part for that matter. I want to thank all of you if it wasnt for you guys I would have never known to ask the right questions I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and again thank you all so much. Nathan
I am 48 years old have had ED since I was 16, I can get an erection but I can not maintain it, tried pills I dont like the side effects, tried Trimix it has been hit and miss, I think I should get an implant.
Re: Tankermans Journey
Ok guys I have an appointment on 9-4-13 with the Dr who only does 10 implants a year, he said he will try to contact some of his patiants to see if they will talk to me and let me know what there experiances were with him. I have no choice but to us this Dr as via my health insurance, they will have a AMS rep in the surgery room to insure proper sizeing so that gives me atleast some confidence thhat I wont come out only having 3 inches boy that would be the shits. Well wish me luck guys and please give all the info you can and incuragement thanks guys and gals talk to ya again soon. Nathan

Good luck with your implant surgery. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I am having implant surgery tomorrow (07/09) early afternoon. My uro and I decided to implant an AMS700LGX.

Nathan,
I've learned a bit since becoming a patient advocate for AMS. Every surgeon who wants to use AMS products gets training by AMS. Every surgery has an AMS rep in the O R as an advisor. These guys have the cumulative experience of every AMS surgery at their disposal. If this guy wasn't qualified, he wouldn't get the implant to put in you.
Hang in there buddy!

Thanks for that info Dave,,, Dave I have a question does the implant feel like a real erection what I mean is does the penis look and feel full or does it feel like two straws in your penis?, I just want to have my penis stay as close to natural feeling and looking as possible. Thanks Dave I hope you are having a great evening. Nathan

Re: Tankermans Journey
Now it comes down to size, I am sooo worried about the size post op, I could't live with just two inches I know it will get hard but after reading some post on here I am thinking seriously about backing out,, injections have been working lately so I probley should stay with them I am so dissapointed after reading some very negitive post,, I just cant take the gamble of winding up with two or three inches even four would not be enough for me and my wife I feel like crying like a baby right now. Re: Tankermans Journey
Nathan,
Just want you to know that not everyone looses size. I had my AMS MS 700LGX implanted two weeks ago today and I am exactly the same size post-op that I was pre-op. I believe it depends on your surgeon. I had many discussions with my surgeon about size and how important it was to me. I also used the daily vacuum protocol where I used a medical grade penile vacuum pump to expand my penis, both the tunica and the cavernosa as much as I could stand. I used the vacuum 20 - 30 minutes, two times each day for a bit over four months. My surgeon believes that allowed him to stretch the penis while measuring for cylinder size during surgery because he felt comfortable that I had stretched the tissue so much he could implant longer cylinders. I am 5-1/2" in length and 5-1/2" in girth, the same as pre-op.
I have been inflating/deflating since last Wednesday and things have been going VERY well for me. I go back tomorrow for my first post-op appointment and although I am only two weeks out of surgery, if I can prove to my urologist that I have mastered the inflating/deflating process and know how to lock the pump so I don't experience any auto-inflation, then he will consider allowing me to begin intercourse, something that my wife and I have not experienced for about 3 years.
As others have said, yes it will be a bit painful for a while and ice is indeed your best friend during this time but I truly believe this is the beginning of rebuilding the great physical/sexual relationship with my wife of 40 years who has experienced the pain, the anger and the embarrassment of struggling with ED with me for the past 15 years.
And I wasn’t worried that I couldn’t afford one of the BIG FIVE urologists to do the surgery. There are many excellent urologist besides those five who perform very successful implant surgeries. But I have to admit that unknown to me before surgery, my surgeon trained with Dr. Karpman of California.
Blessings to you as you make decisions about your sexual performance issues.

Re: Tankermans Journey
Hi Nathan,
I had an AMS CX installed almost 11 weeks ago. I was only 4" flaccid after surgery. When I was first pumped up at 5 weeks I grew to 4 3/4" flaccid immediately. When I measured it at home after that I was just over 5" in length and just over 4" in girth when erect. In the last few weeks of pumping I've gotten to over my stretched length of 5 1/2 ", even tho that's supposedly impossible with the CX, but it's happening for me. And I've gained about 1/2" in girth too, up to 4 5/8" or more. So don't get discouraged too soon. I have those same concerns about being big enough and frankly I'm not as big as I was before the surgery when I used to be 6" hard. But that was before ED wrecked my sex life. I hated that. So since I couldn't have sex anymore the implant was the most logical course for me. And I used my own Urologist/Surgeon and he isn't one of the Big Five or anyone famous, but he did a great job of sizing me it would seem judging by my outcome so far. I expect I may still gain more in girth as time goes on. It hasn't been that long yet for full expansion I don't think.
So hang in there and relax. It all takes some time but you'll get there in the end. Trust that your doc will do a good job and I'll bet you'll be happy with what he can provide. There are plenty of good implant surgeons and Dave's comment about the ones using AMS products being AMS trained is good news to me too. It should help you feel better as well. I had the AMS rep in the room with me during my surgery and it helped me feel more secure. It will help you too. Just keep thinking positive thoughts and reading the positve posts here, which far outweigh the negative ones. It's your decision of course but it could be the right one for you. You're certainly doing the research and that's a good thing. It helps to know as much as you can, but knowing your eventual size is a mystery to some extent, tho it has the probability of being what you envision.
Don't give up unless you're sure you can't do it. But if you're not sure, then revisit it at some future date. You can always get the implant later if you're really too scared now. It's your life buddy and you get to make those calls. Just know you have a lot of support on here in your concerns and freaking out. I sure did it a lot myself. Most of us have it seems to me from my reading. Just stay cool and make a reasoned decision and you'll be fine.
Good luck to you in making your choice.
