Does anyone know of a good implant surgeon that is in SoCal?

Have you talked to your insurance about going to a new facility/ Dr to fix the screw up? Dr Karpman at Mountainview is very qualified. Several guys on this site used him. See; Quincys journal June 5 2018. He traveled home by car 1100 miles on day 8 after Karman activated his pump.

Oldbeek,
I have not talked to my insurance yet but I will try to on the next couple days. I appreciate all the input guys . I think I am going to check out Dr Karpman as he seems like a lot of people have had success with him.

oldbeek wrote:Warenw, did you have any personal interaction with Dr Mills. I see you had DR Eid do your implant. I googled Jesse N. Mills md on google and he does look qualified. Also at the ucla site he has a good video on peyronies.

beek, yes I saw Dr Mills twice. First time was a referral from a uro at UCLA for an ED evaluation, he did ultrasound for VL, trimix injection, peyronies measurement. Second visit was specifically for implant surgery advice. After that I received calls from his assistant and from a former patient of his, both offering to answer any questions I had about the implant surgery.

I ended up going with Eid for various reasons, but Dr Mills impressed me and I would recommended him to Tmansdorfer for a 2nd opinion before traveling to Karpman in the Bay area. When I saw Dr Mills his office was at UCLA in Santa Monica.

I called Dr Karpman when I was shopping doctors. I was going to fly to NY to go to Eid. Told him I was looking for someone more local in case I had a problem after going to Eid. He told me that Dr Boyd at USC would be closer for me as a backup. He also questioned why I just didn't use Dr Boyd as he was close and I liked USC as a hospital. Dr Boyd retired right after my implant. He had been doing them for 30 years. Dr Karpman was very straight forward and helpful.

This is exactly what I was saying about my interviews of the big 4. All of them said that while they appreciate the loyalty, it is not necessary for people to drive forever or fly half way across the country/world in order to find a great surgeon. Most Canadian doctors, especially specialists will tell you that they have too many patients :)

I saw my surgeon today upon his request after I sent him an email telling him I was not happy. The visit went extremely well, I don’t think that he knew my pre surgery size until I sent the picture in the email. He told me that he would fix me by doing the penoscrotal approach for the revision and that would allow him to accurately measure me better. I know most of you would not let him touch you again but at this point I have mixed emotions.

Are you getting this work done in Bakersfield or at USC Keck on San Pablo in LA?

If you are going to go back to him, ask him to have Dr Loh Doyle be his second. Dr Loh Doyle was working under Dr Boyd and was specializing in implants. He is about your age but he knows how to do it right. It is the least they can do, to give you the best they have. There was no reason to miss measure the first time. There are some videos out there that show how they measure doing infrapubic. Dr Boyd said he was doing mine but as he was soon retiring, I would bet Loh Doyle did mine. Full length at day 1.

It's obviously your call and your penis, but I wouldn't let that hack touch me and cover up his screw up again.
He quite obviously botched your surgery.

I'm firing my uro/surgeon over a lot less. My only complaints are the $500 surprise, the goddam 3.5cm RTEs and the CX when I asked for the LGX.
He has to be the only implanter I've heard of who won't install the LGX if cylinders are 18cm or longer.

Gleason 6 prostate cancer. Monitoring it for now.
Update: On my last biopsies the cancer wasn't found.
