Oklahoma City Seminar...

Postby DaveKell » Sun Jun 24, 2018 12:52 pm

I gave my talk at a patient seminar a week and a half ago in OKC. It was well attended. My wife's part of our talk got lots of laughs as she held up a new pair of running shoes she said she had to buy after I got an implant. I learned I need to have a talk with the surgeon at these events beforehand because the guy covered many of the things that were supposed to be in my presentation. At the first one of these I did the surgeon left all the implant info to me to present. The implant manufacturer put us up in a luxury hotel and my rep insisted we use our expense account for a pricey meal at a great restaurant afterwards. All in all, my compensation for a 15 minute talk came in at a few bucks under $600. I have another one scheduled in a few weeks. I'm so proud of my wife's willingness to participate and discuss such personal matters. She's a real trooper.
Became DaveKell 2.0 on July 18th with Dr. Allen Morey in Dallas, TX. AMS 700 CX implant. 18cm with 5.5 RTE's.

Dave,
I think it is great that you are doing this and having your wife on board too is amazing. My wife loves my implant, but considers discussions about it to be private. When I was considering an implant and came home all excited one day when I had been to my surgeons office and had the opportunity to meet a guy with an implant, see how it worked, and actually inflate and deflate it and see for myself how natural it felt, she almost acted like I had participated in porn. Since I healed I have met with a few guys for show and tells and I just don’t mention it to her. I am envious you have her helping you with your presentations.

I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

And yet, when women talk about silicone implants for women who have lost a breast due to cancer, that's ok... I don't get it... :? :? :?

Larry,
EXACTLY!!! Penises are a pretty taboo topic, regardless of the context. It is sad. I hear about women getting body-shamed a lot, but this is no different for men.

I have been a nude model for artists for years. It is interesting how some people draw all other body parts in detail and leave off my penis so I looked like a Ken doll. I was a model for a community ed drawing class. A woman showed up and looked horrified when she saw me nude and asked the instructor to go out in the hall so they could talk. The instructor came back in and said the woman asked if The model could cover “his thing.” The instructor told her no and reminded her she had signed up for a class that said they would draw from a nude model. The woman said she assumed it would be a female, not a guy with a thing. I think our society is pretty screwed up when even a woman who enjoys drawing nudes can’t even look at a penis or say the word penis.

And kudos to you Dave.

I would love to do what you do.

I was interviewed recently with Dr. Kramer for a segment that a local (Baltimore) TV station is airing on June 28th for Men's Health Month. My wife was okay with it since it is not local to us.

Dave,
I am curious as to what your wife is telling the seminar attendees???? Since Franktalk does not allow women on this forum, maybe you can quote some the things she tells them.

She tends to explain the relationship issues that came about from me being withdrawn from life during the years ED ravaged my mind and personality. She tells them we are making fast progress with this and that she likes knowing I am once again motivated and happy. Her only even remote reference to sex is her joke where she pulls a new pair of running shoes out of a bag. I think the urologists who insist on a patient advocate who can bring his wife along might be doing a disservice to men attending the seminars. They don't ask as many followup questions with my wife there. I have to remark on all the things I know they're concerned with like how does an implant feel in your body, is ejaculation the same, and all the other topics frequently seen on FT. We did a good job in OKC though since I've been told the uro wants us back for his next one instead of the local guy he usually has come.

Dave,
You must be doing a great job to get asked back. Do most of the wives /SO's come to these presentations? I am taking it that there are not too many...It would be interesting to have separate Q&A with men only/women only. I'm taking about your wife talking with only women in the room and vice versa. Then see how the questions come out. I don't see that my wife would ask any questions with men in the room. She is quite private.
