Soft / Floppy Glans

Postby rich2222 » Wed Dec 19, 2018 10:38 am

I am interested to learn whether other “injection users” experience the same ‘floppy’ or soft head syndrome that I do.

Since I started using injections (first Alprostadil, then Invicorp) I am very aware of the lack of firmness in the glans as compared to the shaft of the penis. This is consistent, and even with the most rigid of erections, the head of the penis gets no firmer, and does not enlarge.

I suspect that this must feel very similar to those who have implants, where rigidity can only extend to the limit of the cylinders.

I know that with normal erectile function, sexual stimulation / arousal facilitates engorgement and stiffening of the glans via increased blood-flow to the Corpus Spongiosum.
I also know that during an injection, the Corpus Cavernosa are injected (on whichever side), blood flows quickly between the Corpora and they both become erect (in fact I can feel the rigid ends of the Cavernosa quite distinctly through the glans).
I had believed the Corpus Spongiosum to be a separate structure within the penis – not directly connected to the Corpora Cavernosa.

I have seen posts where users have injected the glans directly (not something I want to try!) without much consequential effect, which makes me think that injections have little effect here.
And yet I read some guys who inject say that they get erect from tip to base, so I am wondering if my ‘soft head’ experience is not the norm.

One of the issues I have is that I find it more difficult to achieve orgasm with a softer head than before when I got natural erections and the glans was firm – I just don’t get as much stimulation as I need.
In other respects, it’s not a big issue, although gaining entry for intercourse needs more manual intervention at the head of the penis than before (I used to hold my penis much lower down the shaft).

So maybe you can answer some (or all) of these questions?
a. (One for the Medics) What is your understanding of the relationship between the Corpora Cavernosa and the Corpus Spongiosum?
b. Does anyone have any source information on the effect of injections on the Corpus Spongiosum
c. How do injections affect rigidity in the head of your penis (assuming full erection of the shaft).
d. How has any change affected your sexual activities?
e. How has any change affected your ability to climax?
f. (A question for ‘implantees’ only) Is this similar to what you experience with an implant, on the basis that the penis can only be supported as far as the cylinders reach ? (I would like to understand how my current situation compares to what may be in my future).

Some interesting questions I think.

The Cavernosa and Spongiosum are indeed separate parts of the penis, the injection into the shaft only increases the shaft blood flow. In an natural errection the shaft and glans will both engorge together, the same using Viagra etc.

Perhaps after an injection, the solution back flows and gets into the Glans also, but that’s the only way.

Sadly not. :-(
Tried lots of different rings in different positions.

They never worked for me at all before injections, and make no difference to the head of the penis with an injection.
My SN always suggested that there was Venous leakage, as well as other circulation damage causing the ED

I guess for some guys, they are the real deal. For me, not so much....

From the sounds of it then you perhaps are more likely to have failure to fill rather than failure to retain.
This could be due to your diabetes and circulatory problems just as you suggest.

A cock ring works wonders for failure to retain, does nothing if the problem is failure to fill (that is, failure to supply).

My glans does not get fully engorged from the injection alone but it does firm up after the injection AND stimulation AND arousal. It requires all of the above. I imagine there is wide variation in this due to the wide variation in the causes and extent of ED.
My ED is from nerve damage from a Prostatectomy. That's a pretty common cause but the extent of nerve damage varies a lot and just exactly which nerves are damaged varies. The nerves that control engorgement to my glans seem to function fairly well. Others, not so much. The ones that control engorgement of the corpora cavernosa are severed or dead.

Here is a brief article which overviews the possible reasons for soft glans, including neuro damage.
