I was prescribed trimix of 30/3/50 and had 10 cc filled at a mail order compounding pharmacy in 2 ea. 5 cc vials. Since this was an upgraded mix for me, I had not found the optimum dose and went thru most of the first vial with a continual increase in dosage. For the second vial, I had settled on a dosage of 50 units and filled 10+ syringes and put them back in the freezer.
A few of the syringes worked OK but for most of the last 7 or so, after thawing each one, I could get nothing out of the syringe (the needle was clogged). (It is not fun in trying to transfer from the clogged one to a new syringe.) BTW, I was using #31 x 5/16 x 50 unit syringes. One of the reasons I settled on 50 units is the capacity of the syringes on hand.
I have no idea as to why the needles were clogged, contacted the supplier and their only response was that I should not freeze the trimix in the syringes. There are many entries on Franktalk about this procedure and I have found no reports via a search of a this being a problem.
I would appreciate any comment or analysis of this problem. I have since upgraded to a quadmix of Pap 30mg, Phen 3 mg, Alp 150 mcg, Atr 0.2 mg. and a dosage or 25 units with a constriction ring is just "OK."

I freeze syringes in advance too. If you want anything close to 50 units, get some 1ml syringes. But regardless, after you fill, take the syringe out of the vial and draw a little bit of air into the syringe, removing the trimix solution out of the needle. Then when you thaw it, just push the bubble of air out until you get a drop of solution.
You won't have room for any air if you want 50 units in a 50-unit syringe, though.

I have had trouble with the quality of syringes. It’s been a few months ago. I did call the drug store to let them know but they would bend and break at nothing. These were name brand syringes!
