Tri-Mix and Express Scripts
I had posted earlier about getting tri-mix through express scripts and being able to get it delivered to your home. Today, after spending almost two hours talking with express scripts and tricare, I found out that tricare posted something that is not true. Understand that express scripts is the pharmacy contracted by tricare to provide military members and retirees medications at a reduced cost. After talking with both I found out that you can get tri-mix through express scripts but only from a network pharmacy that does compounding. I am going to my pharmacy today and have them process my refill through express scripts and I will find out how much I can get per RX and how much it will cost. I will repost later today with what I found out. I apologize for any confusion and difficulty I may have caused anyone with my earlier posts. It all looked good in black and white but unfortunately, tricare, again, posted something on their website that is not true.

flyingduck2019, Yes, Please keep us informed about Express Scripts. I was also researching to see what/if Tri-Care Prime would cover any of the costs for Tri-Mix. I did find a form titled "TRICARE Prior Authorization Request Form for Compounded Medications". The only number, like a form number, is located in the upper right quadrant of the page is 6084. My Uro/Dr at WPAFB completed the form for me, and I sent off to the address provided on the form, haven't heard yay or nay yet.
If you want a copy of the form, 2 pages, PM me your address, I'll scan and e-mail it to you.

Re: Tri-Mix and Express Scripts
Mattmdv, I found the form and printed it out. I think getting tricare to cover part of our trimix costs is going to be a long and bumpy road. I think it will go like this: 1. Get RX from Uro. 2. Have Uro fill out the form and either they send to express scripts or I mail it myself . 3. Wait for express scripts to review the form and approve or disapprove it. 4. If approved, either they will tell us which pharmacy to us or we will find one and send them the RX.
Depending on how much savings we can get by paying the express scripts co-pay, the hassle of doing all the above may not be worth going this route and just pay out of pocket for the trimix. Right now I get a 5ml bottle which gives me 25 injections and I pay $80. BUT, the last bottle I got was within two weeks of expiring according the the pharmacy and they only charged me $60. We all know this stuff is good for a hell of a long time past the expiration date. If I keep paying myself I am going to see if I can continue getting the bottles with a short drop date.

for the last two years i have been getting my trimix from university compounding pharmacy in San Diego. phone #619 683-2005.
Re: Tri-Mix and Express Scripts
=flyduck2019, My AF Dr. wrote and forwarded my Tri-Mix prescription to an off-base to a copounding pharmacy. My out-of-pocket has been $130, twice. First batch of Tri-Mix was 30/.5/10 with no positive results. Uro upped to 30/1/20 strength, last try was 50 Units, still nothing. Started testosterone replacement lotion on 1 Oct, in 6 weeks will repeat blood work to check levels. Not going to try more injections until blood work results.
Will keep looking/trying/checking with ExpressScripts. Any financial help would be nice.
Will post here when I find anything out.

Re: Tri-Mix and Express Scripts
I have been in contact with a compounding pharmacy in Los Angeles. They are a network pharmacy under Tricare/express scripts. They are running a test order to determine what my co-pay will be for a 5ml and 10ml bottle of trimix. I should find out tomorrow what my cost will be. They also ship trimix overnight.
I will post my findings tomorrow.
