Eid getting to old ?

Postby mr.skin » Tue Sep 29, 2020 12:43 pm

Hello to all,

I got two questions - is Eid getting to old ? He seems in his late sixties now which is forna young guy like me pretty old and I am quite certain he has lost some ability (physically speaking e.g. not so steady hands etc)

Your opinion ?

Second one - is six weeks healing enough to do an all day standing job afterwards ?

Jack LaLane used to swim from Los Angeles to Catalina Island every year on his birthday until his wife told him, "Jack, you are 90 years old. It's time to stop."

It is a legitimate question to ask, but it seems to me that you are also asking about his ethics and integrity as a medical professional, implying that he would continue operating on people with declining skills.

I asked my pharmacist about the potential retirement of a doctor we both knew. His reply went along the lines of many doctors have said that they'd like to retire. But their kids couldn't afford for dad to retire.
I'm sure that there is lots of deep truth in that statement. Remember also, that Dr. Eid is not living in a cheap city or state. His family might be accustomed to a certain level of income.
My phimosis was treated by a Urologist that looked strikingly like the crypt keeper from Tales of the Crypt series. 7 years later, I think that he is still practicing.
As Lost Sheep has said many times. Look for a surgeon that loves his craft. Dr. Eid seems to fit that descriptin so I doubt that he'll be retiring anytime soon. As for his skill. You only need to look at how well some of the aging rockers can light up when they hit the stage. I bet the Dr. Eid is the same way.

I'm 28 and just got surgery with Dr. Eid. He is a rockstar. I don't know how old he is but he certainly comes off way more youthful than I expected in person. His bedside manner is great and as a young gay man I felt very comfortable talking to him about my sex issues and he even spoke to my boyfriend. I was half aware during the surgery because I didn't want to be too sedated (as the son of a Doctor I enjoy witnessing surgeries) and it was all like a perfectly orchestrated symphony between him and his colleagues (remember that you're not only getting a Doctor, you're getting their team as well). It was clear that everyone was enjoying their work and that they have a good rapport with Dr. Eid. As for the results, I couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the attribution, Gt1956. It is Dr. Eid himself who gave me that quotable piece of sage wisdom, "Look for a surgeon in love with his craft." I knew that before, but he put it better.

I thought that it was him but too lazy to look for the source. He practices what he preaches. Along that line. I've noticed that several members have mentioned that their "great" surgeon had went into retirement or semi retirement. Meaning that they were still willing to do a few procedures on request. The greats don't usually just walk away.

Seeing some of his recent operation videos he seems to be quite sharp. But yeah it's coming up on his retirement time. I couldn't picture myself getting operated on by anyone else but him. I would still trust him for at least the next 5 years.

If you are young enough to think Dr. Eid old, I am sure you are resilient enough to stand all day. What kind of work is it you do? Bartending is not very taxing unless you will be lifting kegs of beer (I bartended a few years). Likewise, cashier and such. Or surgeon. Surgeons work standing up.

I was implanted by Dr. Eid in 2015 and have had great results and found him to be extremely competent and experienced. His phone consultations with me and the videos I watched were enough to convince me to trust him. I’m not hoping for a revision anytime soon however hope and pray he is still practicing should I ever need one. He’s probably just a few years older me and I believe he’s still going strong.
