During Doppler test, 20mcg Caverject did nothing.

Hi,

I just had a Doppler test for ED, I was given 20mcg of Caverject (Alprostadil), nothing much happened, no erection.

Would this indicate that injections won't work for me, and that the risks of injections outweigh me trying it any further?

I had the same thing happen for my Doppler at urologist. My dick just got full, not hard.
Later I went to a clinic that specializes in men’s health. I told them the story, they checked me with a ultrasound just to see flow. Then they injected me with a Trimix formula.
In 15 min I was as hard as I had ever been as a teenager! It lasted just over 2 hours!
They said a lot of urologist use dose so low that it doesn’t produce an erection, you have to find the right formula.
So, perhaps that’s what happened to you.

I too had the same experience at Mayo in Jacksonville during the tests before scheduling surgery. I was given the injection and then told to look at some Playboy magazines and get it up. Nothing. If they had given me a chance to see porn, maybe that would have helped or allowed my wife in to masturbate me, but none of that, so I think the amount of medicine was insufficient. I too believe they just use too low a dosage, but, now that i have the implant, i will never know. Do as ETGuy and see another urologist.

Thanks but is 20mcg Alprostadil considered a low dose? It may be that I may need such a high dose of injections, that it ain't worth the risks.

I will admit I was nervous and I haven't been interested in sex recently, except that I am anxious to be able to have sex again, for my marriage, and I have always had a high libido.

A proper injection is going to work to some extant regardless your nerves or libido. However, they can have a noticeable effect, especially if the dose is marginal.

Strange that 25-50mg Sildenafil worked until recently I had to stop because of the side effects.

Before I got my implant I spent about a year trying injections - all kinds of mixes, strengths, and doses (Edex, Caverject, Bimix, Trimix) under Dr supervision. In that time, not one mix produced any erection at all. So, at least in my case, injections did not work.
