Anyone tried to get pregnant with Ed

Postby Sahara1 » Tue Jan 05, 2021 1:09 am

Hi all,
I am a 33 yo male who literally in the last couple of weeks started dealing with ed.
Thru FT and reading the story of other members I am able to reasonably conclude what started my problems. I took a drug called gardasil 9 couple of months ago on the recommendation of my doctor not knowing its brutal side effects. Ie: paralysis, death, and nervous system issues. The first 2 months after the injection I was good. But soon after my penis started acting weird. Loss of morning erections, shrinkage, and testicle pain. Also for the first time in my life I experienced pre ejaculation(while masturbating). I do still get weak/hard nocturnal erections. I now have trouble sleeping a full night, have digestive issues, and muscle twitching.
I have been to atleast one uro who said all my levels look normal. I even went for a scrotal ultrasound which only showed tiny calcification.(not sure what the implications of this are). The uro prescribed 25 mg viagra which I have yet to try.
My fears are compounded because I took the damn injection to get married. So angry. Has anyone been able to have kids with an ED problem. Is it possible? I figure let me try now before the problem gets too severe.
Opinions and advice are welcome.

I claim no expertise here, but would venture that, in general, ED and fertility are unrelated. You can be producing viable sperm even though the delivery method might not be up to par. In fact, seems to me I have heard of sperm being harvested from men who have no ability to achieve erection by any means, and those sperm still succeed with in vitro fertilization.

If you are able to ejaculate at all, you should be able to produce a sample for semen analysis. Some guys have no ED problems, yet they have fertility issues.

That's an interesting theory all though I don't know if it applies in my case.
I have loss of sensation in the scrotal area since this all started. It has progressed quickly in just two weeks and I can only think my problems will be worse if I don't act now. Few doctors have a clue about small fiber neuropathy in the genital region/pelvic floor. I still have hope Viagra and similar options may work but based on the account of others it doesn't look good.

Posthumous sperm retrieval has been performed since 1980. It requires surgery on the cadaver soon after death, but extraction of sperm present in a man recently deceased is fairly straightforward. Of course, there is no semen. That would be a separate procedure. I believe sperm harvested in these cases is used for in-vitro fertilization rather than simple artificial insemination.

(After reading malibog's post following this one, I edited to add:) So, to explicitly answer the question, Sperm production and Erectile Function have absolutely no direct relationship.

If a man can ejaculate (which, plumbing-wise. does not even require a penis), he can inseminate and impregnate a woman. You take the ejaculate and get it deep into her vagina by any means required. Sperm/Semen DELIVERY with ED is problematic, but transfer of the ejaculate into a vagina by a syringe or baster is easy enough.

Testosterone problems may lead to both ED and male infertility, but those effects are independent of one another, the only relationship is having a common cause. Neither one is the cause of the other.

Yes, I have heard of posthumous sperm retrieval. But the OP was asking "Has anyone been able to have kids with an ED problem. Is it possible? "

I suppose dead guys could fairly be said to have an ED problem. But to me, the question appeared to be: Does ED = infertile. I would say no, not as a rule, but of course, some men with ED might be infertile, just as some guys who can achieve normal erections might be infertile.

As I said, if he can ejaculate, he can produce a sample that can be tested for sperm viability. That kind of testing is readily available in many places, at limited or no cost. I have had a few such tests, covered by my medical plan.

Hey bro, thanks for the reply. I think the same company that produced finasteride also makes Gardasil, Merck. Seems all their products just ruin lives. Anyway, how were you able to do it? Did you ever experience loss of sensation in your wood? (What Im dealing with now)
Either way its great you were able to have kids despite the problem. Gives me hope.

I have some of the same issues from a ssri antidepressant. It has caused numbness in my genitals although I can feel some touch it’s not pleasurable or the normal sensations. Shrinkage, Ed, and loss of libido. I have been like this for a year and a half. But I did get my wife pregnant and have a baby during this time.

I have had some loss of sensation. Viagra works every now and again so I can manage some not so great sex still now and again.
