Thanks to everyone on this forum (special thanks to LostSheep, Tangerine, and Merrix) I made the bionic leap. Here are the highlights:
1) Dr. Eid is an amazing surgeon and very caring human being. I always felt like a patient and never like a customer.
2) Day of procedure: Amost no pain or swelling. Took a percocet as a precaution but it made me dizzy. Felt some pressure in my urethra because of the catheter.
* Spinal anesthesia was painless and I woke up at the end of surgery asking “what size did I get?”
3) Dr Eid removed the catheter and gave me a few pumps on Day 3 and I’ve been pumping in the bath tub since then. Pump feels like a marble at first but deflation valve was easy to find. Emptying the catheter bag was easy and allowed me to stay on my back icing the 1st 48 hours.
4) Day 5: Second follow up with Dr. Eid. He showed me how to squeeze the saline out of the penis to prevent resevoir and tissue atropy issues. Feel sore but no pain. Ready to fly back home!
In conclusion, definitely start your search with Dr. Eid, stay at Affinia Gardens(across the street from Manhattan Eye, Ear, Throat Hospital), and ice, ice baby!
Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience as I’d be happy to give back to the community.
P. S. I forgot to mention the cystoscopy. It was the most painful part of the experience. Dr. Eid does it to ensure there are no surprises and he can place a catheter during the operation. Sylvia ( Office nurse) rubbed my shoulder as I was cringing and Dr. Eid said multiple times “I’m sorry this hurts” He genuinely meant it. What a caring physician!

Re: Implanted 4/9 with Dr. Eid
I was implanted 1 month before you by the same doctor.
Looking back at it, I wish I prepared for post-op more while in pre-op. I still have severe constipation probably from the antibiotics. Probably wouldn't have been severe if I ate alot of fiber and probiotics for some time before surgery. I learned constipation puts one at risk of reservoir herniation, especially right after surgery. Felt it move, but no hernia.
Also got a skin allergy on day 14 of taking the antibiotics (last day). It's better now, but I have a bunch of dark spots all over the body now. If I do nothing, it'll probably resolve in 6-12 months. I think a tan will speed that up which I'm doing now. I guess eat more probiotics, or ask if the high dose of antibiotics can be lowered.
Also, I have a bump on the incision line. It appeared few days after removing the stitches. Doc doesn't know what it is, but asked to monitor it. It's not itchy and it's not getting worse, so my guess for now is it's a bump from the antibiotic allergy or a small scar. Although other areas of the scrotum get itchy once in awhile, I don't think it's an infection. I think the itchiness is from irritating the scrotum alot to pump, so I've been learning how to be gentle to that skin.
Signs are pointing to that these all short-term problems, and with continued progress week by week, I think I'll be satisfied soon in the coming months. Fingers crossed.
