Suddenly got confused about LGX

Well, the main advantage of LGX is its ability to expand in length thus providing possibility for restoring the ORIGINAL length.
However here comes the logical collision. If the measurement is done properly, the patient should not experience any loss of the original length for more than 1/4" (according to AMS publications). And if so, there should be no need for "length restoring" capability.
That basically means that LGX proves the mechanism for compensating the surgeon's error. That makes me think there must be something fundamentally wrong with the measuring technique, which seems to be prone to mistakes; otherwise there would be no need for the length restoration capacity...

I'm no surgeon but have had plenty of scars, some from surgery and some from accidents. My scars have always caused shrinkage of the damaged tissues. My guess is some of the loss of length could come from scaring and damage to the penile tissues. The good news is that those tissues can recover but it sometimes takes years and it seems the older I get the longer it takes. I had my open RP over 3 years ago and the 6" scar is still dark and not pliable like the area around it.

I agree that scarring can cause shortage. However in case of an implant the penile shrinkage cannot go shorted than the cylinder length. So if the cylinder length is right, the penis should not get any shorter no matter how bad is the scarring is since the cylinders will preserve the length.
One might argue that LGX length restoration might be addressed to those who lost their original length prior to the surgery. But in this case a simple daily VED routine should restore the length (prior to the implant) without a need for the expandable cylinders doing so...
If my thoughts are correct then finding a good surgeon means finding a surgeon who knows how to measure properly. And that seems to be tricky...

Is it possible that when the surgeon cuts the CC to install the tubes that scaring can occur? Isn't that why your supposed to do a lot of pumping up as soon as you can tolerate the pain to minimize scarring?

Danny - I know where ur coming from! Surgeons tend to be cautious when sizing, going too large can cause permanent damage, so they will tend to go a bit smaller, I think. I jokingly told my doc the morning of surgery "Don't short change me doc, I need all I got, there's none to spare!" He laughed and did a great job.

My personal opinion is the growth is most beneficial to those who have had prostate removal and the shrinkage that goes along with losing a chunk of their urethra. I suspect the 18 month "break-in" period as I call it was intended to gradually stretch them back to where they were before losing the prostate.
