Greeting Gents! It took a long time to find a site like this. I've been looking for a long time.
I would like to tell my story and maybe I can get some feedback and help(guidance). I went into andropause in my mid to late 40's,(I'm now 59 y/o) getting night sweats among other symptoms just like some of your wives, girl friends, sisters and mothers. For the longest time it didn't click I never guessed what was going on. You would think I would know because I'm a physician I should know! But when it's yourself it's hard to see the forest through the trees. As you can guess the ED went right along with hormonal changes not to mention weight gain and mood changes. Lucky for me I had some understanding of these conditions but it didn't make it any easier.
Hormonal therapy(androgel) helped with certain symptoms but not the the ED. You need to have testosterone to function in a "manly way" but it doesn't cause erections.
Over the years I've been using Viagra, Cialis and levitra with varying amounts of success. I have found that I need to use a low dose levitra or cialis on a daily basis and then a full dose Viagra 100mg or Levitra 20 mg(ok but not as well as 100mg Viagra) Cialis 20 mg is worthless. Regardless, of the medication I can only maintain an erection in a prone position( or should I say lying down) If I stand I lose my erection??? Also if I have any prolonged foreplay I lose the erection and It takes time for it to return! Any feedback on these situations?
I also have side effects with the medication(any) headaches, general hangover-like feeling and of course a "stuffy nose". Here's another issue, the medication only seems to work effectively in the AM between 5:00 and 8:00 (remember when you got the early AM....naturally?)
I don't know how many of you guys had a similar experiences, it sounds as though many of you are PC survivors(in different ways) and peyronie's disease.
Thanks for letting me "vent" I would appreciate advise, feedback ,help or guidance. I'll have some questions in future posts

Re: Another Newbie Here!
Thanks for the support! There are only 3 people know that I have ED My personal physician, my wife and myself. Like many of you it's not something I wish to share with your friends and relatives!
I guess I'm getting to a point where I'm tired of the status quo. I'm wondering if it's time to start considering an implant? I have many concerns and questions. I'm going to move over to that tread.
Thanks again

Hi Blacke8184,
forgive me for maybe saying the obvious, but here it goes.
Is that physician of yours a specialized urologist? You should be having your pipes tested with a penile Doppler, as well as having all the necessary blood tests- glucose, triglycerides, etc, in case you haven´t.
I´m sixty now, and I remember the first change that happened to me was that I no longer maintained an erection going during all of the foreplay; it kept coming and going but when it was time for penetration, it was there all right, and I guess that´s part of the ageing process.
Losing some weight, you know, lifestyle changes, exercise, healthy diet, etc, won´t hurt, so go for it. Kegel exercises are helpful to some men, strengthening their pelvic floor, so give them a try, anyway. I do them on a daily basis, at least twice a day.
Hypertension medication has a reputation of causing ED; when I replaced my diuretics for Losartan, 50 mg in the morning and 50mg in the evening, I had the next morning a.m. erection so hard it hurt!! :- ) I don´t think it was a coincidence. If you aren´t having your morning erections, that may be a sign of physiological ED, although men with depression may sometimes/temporarily lose theirs.
Psychogenic ED is a fact, so you gotta take that into consideration. Also, are you sexually attracted to your partner? To some men, having sex with their wives has become a pleasant obligation now… (and vice-versa, I might add)
Read the “Combination therapy: VIGAMED + Cialis” thread, it may work for you.
Hope that helps, and good luck to you.

Wise words.
Some men (usually younger, immature guys) believe they're obliged to tell their wives or girlfriends and even their close friends that they're on Viagra. I wonder why. ED is a personal issue and the only person you should confide in is your urologist.
Age 40. Psychogenic ED for over 20 years. Current regimen: Udenafil 200 mg, oral phentolamine mesylate 40 mg, Seredyn.
