How long did it take you to decide to get an implant?

Postby RPSurvivor » Sun Mar 26, 2023 10:17 am

During the time it took you to decide, what was going on?

And what was that final thing that made you realize you were going to do it, and made you commit to actually doing it?

And after you decided to get an implant, how long was it before your surgery?

I had a benign enlarged prostrate and went in to get some help with urination problems. I had the Rezum prostrate procedure 19 May 2021 in the middle of COVID, fortunately the military hospitals were still doing some surgeries.

After I had the prostrate procedure I had total ED, some of the steam might have hit the nerve bundle going close to the prostrate.

I had already said I wanted to move forward with the implant, but after the prostrate procedure, I couldn’t wait to get it.

I had to heal from the Rezum prostrate procedure and COVID was still going on, and they were limited on elective surgeries, so I ended up waiting about 6 months. My surgery date was 5 Nov 2021.
I don’t know how some folks have dealt with total ED for years, 6 months was tough.

I get it. After my RP I was still too scared from having cancer to worry too much about the ED. Later, my wife and I tried several things but none of it compared to penetration. I never thought about my penis being a part of the man I am, but a dark cloud hung over me when I thought about being intimate with my wife.

My wife preferred oral over vaginal anyway, so we tried that. I did not orgasm and it felt like my penis was somehow cold to the core, with almost no sensation. That is what I fear most about my eventual need of an implant. Like sex with a strap-on pretending it's really me.

Injections stopped working reliably but I kept on trying larger and stronger doses. 2years later I made the decision to get the IPP. Waited 7mo instead of 3 because I didn't answer the phone when Kaiser called--FU Kaiser
56, ED 10-15 years. Pills, Bi, Tri then Quad Mix Injections- all slowly less effective. IPP July 2022 (Penscrotal, Titan, 22 + 1) @6mo back to OEM--7.2"L x 5.5"w

Way too long.
Went thru all the pills
Went thru all the injections
Don't wait....just get it done.
7 years and still enjoying. 75 years old now.
Only regret is I went thru all the pills and injections...but I understand the reluctance.

After the prostrate procedure, I thought my penis was gonna shrivel up it got so small and limp, it was discouraging.

After I got the implant I felt like a new man. Yes, you can't have a natural erection, but if your sexual desires are intact then it will be almost the same. You'll have a desire for sex, you'll let your wife know and then you can make a time for sex.
It's not cold at all, it has all the sensations just like the old erections, you only have to pump it up.

Don't even think about it, as strapping something on, it is still part of you and it feels just the same as a regular erection.

I'm so glad I made the decision to have the implant done.

Hang in there!

ED treated with pills 15 years before surgery.

Got Peyronie's, was put on traction therapy, and first learned about ipp about 5 years before surgery.

Combo of mild PD and worsening ED had me thinking about it, and researching within a year of surgery.

Committed about 2 mo. before surgery.

Only had to wait about 1 months when scheduling.
51 Have had ED for at least 15 years, then PD. Pills stopped working, not going to do the other things. Mayo Clinic Minnesota 24 cm Titan

I waffled and dithered around for two years or more before I took the plunge. Unfortunately it did not solve my problem - see my signature.
Dave, 80, Maryland - Implant (Titan) 2008 by Dr. Andrew Kramer (failed Sept 2020) - never used due to a stroke that, among other things, ended my sex life.
Life is not the way it's supposed to be, it's the way it is.
