I've newly joined, and my user name is "longhorn." It was just the first word that came into my head, as I was wearing a Univ. of Texas Longhorn t-shirt when I registered. It didn't occur to me until later that it might sound like I was boasting, which I'm not! I had a prostatectomy 6+ years ago. Later I had to get an artificial bladder sphincter because the surgery had rendered me 100% incontinent. Also, as a result of the incompetent surgery, I developed a hernia, which has since ruptured a few times. Until last year I had no real feeling in my penis, but I started feeling sensations a little over a year ago. A few months ago, when I realized that the cuff on my implant was wearing down and the hernia was acting up again, I decided that when I got the corrective surgery I would get a penile implant at the same time. I had tried taking meds, which were useless, and doing the injections, which were painful, to have erections again, so I hoped getting the penile implant would help me to feel relatively normal again. I just had the surgery about five weeks ago, so it hasn't been activated yet. Meanwhile, I've noticed that I feel like I have to pee almost all the time. Could someone tell me if that's a common symptom for this situation? I'm hoping that the feeling will go away eventually.

Welcome ... it's doubtful the Implant itself is the cause of that feeling ... most likely it's the other repairs and the additional hardware. Since you are 5 weeks out and should be seeing your URO again soon, be sure to mention this.
Keep us posted of your progress ...

Thank you. Yes, I will be going back to see my doctor a week from tomorrow to have the implant activated. I will have a list of things to talk to him about!

Are you sure you are emptying your bladder completely? Because of inflammation and swelling, the implant was pinching my urethra and made urination difficult at first. After the inflammation went down and I was able to squeeze more of the fluid out of the implant, that situation got better. Just a thought. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure I'm emptying my bladder. I usually "push my button" a second or sometimes third time to make sure I'm emptied out. But I am hoping the problem is from the swelling of the newer penile implant and that it will go away eventually. Thank you for writing back to me!
