I met with Dr. Clavell today for a consultation before getting an implant with him. He’s on board to do the surgery and saw my Doppler scan and knows already that I’m a candidate. However. He did bring up his worry of not the 31 year old me today, but the 60 year old me 30 years from now who has gone through multiple implants and will continue to need them replaced. I hear his point. If I start now, there’s no going back. And I’m likely going to be sexually actively past my 80s and if I start now, im going to need at least 5 new implants until then. It terrifies me of something very possibly going wrong between all these surgeries.
My dick works maybe 50% of the time taking cialis. After talking with him, it made me feel like maybe I should settle with the 50% of the time that it works. But I hate the side effects of pills, I hate the anxiety and not being able to enjoy the moment of having sex worrying if my dick would work or not. If this were a 1 time surgery, it would be an absolute no brainer for me.
Very conflicted now. Any advice would be tremendously appreciated.

Your dick works well, as in stays hard during sex, 50% of the time? I've tried Cialis to be one of the weaker pills, have you tried Viagra or avanafil?
Early 30s with ED for years from penis enlargement stretching and jelqing. Implant by Dr Eid on 24 June 2021 with a Titan 24cm with +1cm RTE on one side and -1cm cut off on the other side

What did he say exactly? How many implants one can have in a lifetime?
Venous like since I was 20 years old. Pills don't work too well. Thinking of implant in the future

Thats exactly what i think!
Have you discussed the malleable implant option with Dr Clavell? I think for young people with ED this is the best choice. You can easily use the malleable implant for more than 10 years! Even malleable can be with you life time.

So it works 50% with cialis yes? Do you have a girlfriend or are you single? Has anyone put you down the path of psychosexual counselling?
Could your Ed be stress related?
Sorry for all the questions but it’s hard(pardon the pun) to give advice without knowing more about you

You seem to have been implanted very young. What is your opinion on this topic and what did your doctor say to you regarding how many implants can we have in our lifetime and if an infection happens during revisions?

Hello
I am one of the Younger Patients here. Dr.Clavell is a very knowlegable doctor. I Had a terrible side effects From a drug. Had PFS for more than 3 years. Had Hard Flacid. Yes this surgery takes a lot of Mental power. I used to be on Viagra and Cialis. Abused it TBH was still feeling empty. Meds are no cure to ED its just a temporary thing with thoughts if the viagra is gonna work or not.
If your young there some factors coming in Play.
-High number of implants.
My awnser is malleable. This implants holds your length and from what I read a functioning device for a long period of time.
-More active nerves
I am 6 weeks out of surgery and im still in much pain. One of the difficult times the past few days. I finished 3 bottles of painkillers. The crazy anxiety that hits. Our nerves are more active and the pain is comparatively more active. Again this might be only me.
-Cost
The cost over our lifetime. This is now a surgery that is not cheap.
TBH I feel you I was in your shoe a long time. I will be going for the malleable next. My one surgery was too hard on me.
If you need to talk to PM me anytime. Its best to look at the pros and cons before getting into it. But from my advice if viagra works and Cialis gives you a nocturnal erection everynight. Hold your thoughts on the implant. Use a vacuum device overnight to maintain your length.
Best wishes

Re: 31 years old and very conflicted after talking with Dr. Clavell
I’m sorry that you’re dealing with this at such a young age. Dr. Perito mentions on his youtube channel that he has implanted someone who was 18 years old. It’s unfortunate when ED affects a young man, but for those who’ve exhausted their options, the implant truly is a new lease on life.
I’m not so sure you’ve exhausted your options though. You mention Cialis, but how about injections? I had a good 3 years+ of positive results after Cialis stopped working for me. They worked well until they didn’t due to veinous leakage. I could get it up but not keep it up for more than about :15 minutes max.
You didn’t mention what exactly your doppler day wgnosus showed, but i suspect veinous leakage. Is that correct? Depending on the severity injections may buy you some time. When the end of that road comes, you’ll know. And you may be better prepared mentally to proceed with the implant.
Many men hear, due to a variety of causes, hadn’t had erections for years. You’re still batting at .500 with another option on the table. You could be batting 1000, at least for awhile.
Once implanted, you just don’t know how many revisions you’ll need. I watched a video by Dr. Eid recently. He has one patient whose implant has been fully functioning for 26 years. I do realize he’s an outlier, but between revisions the quality and technology is likely to improve. Maybe you’ll need fewer than your estimate. Maybe. Maybe not.
The surgical techniques of the high wuality, high volume doctors mitigates infection risks considerably. I wouldn’t let that fear stop me in the right hands. Dr. Clavell is young and so in the event of a revision you’d have the continuity and experience of an excellent doctor who knows your case for years to come.
Revisions are generally reported anecdotally here on the forum as being easier in recovery than the initial surgery. Sure, you’ll be out of the game….but probably only for a couple months each time.
For me, if i had to make the choice of being out of the game for 2 months once every (estimated) 10 years, versus out 100% of the time, as many of us here were (or close to it) for me it would be an easy choice.
If i were in your shoes, unless you have reason to believe they won’t work, i’d buy some time and try injections. When those quit, your decision might be easier, as it was for me.
Best wishes friend.

Hard to imagine that medicine doesn't change at all in 30 years don't you think? it's amusing to me that people think we will have the same implants 10 years from now when the new titan and ams will be out in 4-7, they also seem to think there will be no advancement in surgical techniques, tissue, stem cells etc. Technology is increasing at exponential rate NOT a linear one.

With a malleable would it not be harder (no pun intended) to walk around with an erection or the rest of your life? The lower partner satisfaction rate doesn't give you pause?
