Depth of injections

Postby harvey6389@att.net » Thu Sep 21, 2023 5:19 pm

My question is this: why does nearly every post recommend needle depth standard1/2 inch? This seems to as in my case to be not only bad advise but sure to cause penile scarring infrequently to the penile artery and almost always to the penile septum which provlolks dorsal peyronies. My theory is, since in my case, on stretch my penis is about one inch in diameter. Using a half inch needle would put it dead center of the septum and possibly piercing the artery scarring both simultainiouslly. Common sense, half of one inch, 1/2, right? Half of that 1/4 inch the artery. Someone please correct me.

not everyone injects into a flaccid penis. grant you, when I started, I did but after over 150 injections i havent done that since the first 10 injections. from reading on here, i started to use a VED to plump up to have better areas to inject. i also know the depth of how far to inject. after my first supply of 1/2 needles, i tried the 5/16 and they work just fine. with the 1/2 inch, i dont have to go as deep as with the 5/16th ones. injection technique is very important in this endeavor.

your not supposed to be injecting into any of the blood vessels ... I can tell you if you inject wrong you can hit the urethra and just piss it all out ... My NP showed me and my g/f how to inject .. we also used an auto injector .. much easier to od since her hands shake and my belly gets in the way .. we did 3 and 9 positions .. the injector allows you to put it exactly where you want it .. drives the needle in firmly and allows you to hold it in place as you push the plunger yourself and do the injection ..

My flaccid penis is also about one inch diameter slightly stretched for an injection; I don't try to plump it up. A half-inch needle is almost always too long, depending on where along the length I decide to inject, so I usually use 5/16 in. I'm short and thin when stiff, so I think the 1/2 in. needles are used by guys with big penises.

This is a pretty good diagram, but it shows erect corpora cavernosa - flaccid corpora are considerably thinner, in my case 0.2 in.

The 1/2 in. needles are 30 gauge, whereas the 5/16 in. are 31 gauge, a little thinner, so presumably cause less tissue damage. I don't know if injections actually cause scar tissue, and there seems to be no consensus on Frank Talk, but in my opinion, if I can use 31 gauge, so much the better.

I use a technique that I have found to be very reliable, and I consider safe.
I use a VED to slightly increase penile length and girth. I then use a 5/16 needle, and insert it at approximately the 1 to 2 o’clock, or 10 to 11 o’clock position. I know that the depth is correct, because I use a loss of resistance technique when placing the needle. With this technique, I can be confidant the needle is where it needs to be, and has not been placed too deep.
I hope someone finds this helpful.

The Owen Mumford Autoinject 2 device allows you customize the depth of the injection. I use a 1/2 inch needle but shorten the injection depth to about 3/8. It's been very reliable so far.

I've always used 1/2" needles and so far, haven't had a problem. When I changed urologists and I got a new dosage, she had me inject myself for her and I did ask about needle length. Her opinion was that my needle size was fine but mentioned if I was having issues, to go one size down. Haven't had to yet.

I use a 1/2" long x 30 gauge needle. I push it all the way in.

I just ordered the autoinject and was considering shorting the 1/2" needle that I have. Can I ask what letter it is on the measuring dial for the 3/8 depth that you shorten it to? Thanks in advanced.

So you slightly stretch your penis to inject?
