Implant date set!

Postby aga1405 » Mon Sep 25, 2023 9:34 pm

Hello All!

I am scheduled to have my implant on Nov 7 at UCI with Dr. Yafi.

I am excited and terrified at the same time. I’ve suffered from ED for over 10 years - probably longer. I’ve tried pills - levitra, cialis and viagra - they all stopped working. In March 2023 I started with Trimix injections - which work great but I hate the shots. I already have a curve in my penis due to hypospadias chordee - which shortened my penis - and of course it has shortened due to atrophy as well. I have been using a pump a few time a week over the last 2 months to help bring blood into it to hopefully help get my length back. I have always been a grower - about 1.5 inches soft - and about 5 inches hard. I have read that you can lose length with an implant - but at this point I just want it to work.

Now here is why I am terrified. I am only 42 years old. So I probably have at minimum 2 revisions in my future. I am also a type 2 diabetic, so I am worried about infection. My diabetes is controlled well and I have taken it seriously over the last 3 years and have dropped over 100 pounds with diet and exercise - dropping from 300 to 198. I’ve gotten addicted to working out as it has helped with my anxiety and stress, so I am concerned about not working out for 6-8 weeks and not being able to do squats anymore since it can put a lot of pressure there.

I’m looking for any advice or guidance, and your experience getting the implant. Any one who is diabetic and has had the surgery, I would appreciate your thoughts as well.

Thank you all in advance.

I'm type 2 also. My A1C two weeks before surgery was 6.2. Absolutely no problems. My dr was totaled unconcerned at that level.

I’m in pretty much in the same boat as you. Went bionic 8/9/23. I was super nervous because I’m type 2 as well. My A1C was 6.6 before surgery. I’m sure there is a higher risk of infection for us but the reward of not having to worry about ED and being able to have sex again far outweighs the risk

I also lost size due to atrophy. I’m about 5’ erect. I didn’t really lose too much post op. I cycle twice daily and we will see if I get it back. Good thing is I don’t have any pain and have had sex twice since the surgery and the women have not complained at all. I was able to make her cum twice. That has never happened before! Lol.

Congrats on losing weight and getting healthy. You will need it for all the sex you will be having!
Like most guys say on here, the only regret is I wish I would have done it sooner. Just thinking about all those times when I had a naked woman in bed with me and I couldn’t get it up. Good Luck!

Congratulations aga1405. You have taken a great and courageous step. And well done on your quest to optimum health. You weight loss alone is highly commendable. A man should be the best version of himself.

You will wrestle with fear. I know. I am twelve days post op. Although it is no cakewalk, I am doing very well. Minimal swelling from day one. Bruising and pain moderate, but tolerable. I have only taken two “big gun” pain killers since coming home. Ibuprofen, ice and heat have been my friends. I’m taking it really easy and have my first post op with my doctor this Friday.

I became quite confident and hopeful as my surgery day approached. Two months prior I was very nervous and apprehensive. I watched videos of implants and read about negative experiences and side effects trying to gather information and bolster my decision. This forum empowered me with information and encouragement matched no where else! For every bad experience there are hundreds of great ones. Many we don’t even know about.

When I heard and read things like:

I am having the best sex of my life!

I wish I had done it much sooner.

I don’t have to worry or concentrate on my failure with my ED. (The best reason as this transcends the bedroom!)

My recovery was easy. I am a few months post op and all is well.

For me, my decision and focus became a no brainer. My dick didn’t work. My solutions were poor at best and had significant limitations.

I highly recommend reading poster “Tangerine” s pamphlet. In fact I read it nearly every day as I approached my new birthday.

Focus on the positives. The only risk a man takes is not taking one.
