Pain at reservoir site

Hi,
I had an AMS 700 LGX implanted in February 2023. After years of ED caused by my type 1 diabetes I finally have a great solution. However for the last 3 weeks I’ve been experiencing pain at the site of the reservoir, ever since the implant I’ve been able to feel a lump in my abdomen where it’s sited with very occasional and very mild pain. This has now worsened and I’m also feeling some tenderness in my balls - again it’s quite mild. I worry that I might have an infection- is that possible after 1 year, has anyone else similar experience??

If the pain continues, or gets worse, I'd definitely get to a doctor for blood tests.

I agree with BigDave except that I would suggest getting checked out now. You already have progressive discomfort. If you have an infection, the earlier you treat it, the easier it is to treat. A simple white blood cell count would probably be the second thing done, after a physical exam.

(I am no medical expert, so that last sentence is an educated guess. Take it as such.)

Yes it is possible although rare but diabetes also puts you at additional risk. This is not something to try and wait it out.

At one year out, you’re still somewhat in recovery. My doctor told me that during the recovery process, things should only trend better. There may be periods when things plateau and you don’t notice any improvement. But it should never take a turn for the worse. He told me to head to the ER if I ever experienced new pain that is worsening. They can quickly run some blood tests to determine if infection is brewing and treat accordingly.

Thanks for your replies guys, much appreciated. I contacted my surgeon yesterday and all is okay with the implant thankfully.
He suspects that I have a hernia and while that’s not great, I see it as less of a problem than an implant infection.
