Hi guys. Long-time listener, first-time caller. I've had ED in one way or another since age 20. A cycling accident involving a head-on collision was almost certainly the reason for my dysfunction. I remember feeling numb in my penis and testicles for almost a week after the accident, but at 20 I was too ashamed — and probably too convinced of my invincibility — that I didn't say or do anything about it.

Pills have worked here and there, but sexual issues largely remained. I tried Trimix injections for a year but found them really hit or miss in terms of effectiveness. And of course, they're not at all discreet and there's the whole awkward issue of refrigeration. Weirdly I didn't have any concerns about sticking a needle into the base of my penis. I guess when you really want something to work, you'll do whatever it takes...

Like probably a lot of guys in this forum, ED has more or less led to the ruin of essentially every romantic relationship I've ever had. I feel so left out of life. I desperately want love, and sex, like it or not, is a big part of love. I'm ready to go the implant route. I'm in the Chicago area and have an appointment in the last week of June with Dr. Levine in Chicago. Hoping he'll agree to implant me, and that things ultimately go well. I have pretty good insurance, so ... fingers crossed.

I've done a lot of reading on this forum and it sounds like the IPP is just not the way to go, if you're interested in a one-and-done procedure and are conscious or anxious of the possibility of frequent revision, long recovery times, etc. Does anyone think that my suggesting a malleable implant is going to set off a red flag to the doctor?

And, how long after my initial consultation do you think I'll be able to actually have the surgery performed?

Hoping to have my life back, and before too long.

Only thing I will disagree on is IPP 3 piece is by FAR the most common of the implants. There’s probably only a half dozen guys on here with malleable implants but the rest are all 3 piece. Not trying to suggest either one but don’t get caught up on opinions of a couple guys who have no doubt had bad luck with 3 piece IPPs. Continue research and you’ll find there is a risk of erosion, and a lot of times length lose and most definitely girth lose! Especially if your over 5-1/2” girth. I definitely see the advantage of malleable….. but!, I couldn’t imagine having a boner ALL the time. Also when I pump up my IPP it’s absolutely rock hard in length and rock hard in diameter. There’s no way a malleable could fill my dick as full or as hard as an IPP. But again it’s an individual choice! Good luck with your decision and hope it all works out! Still as with any implant surgery it’s best to use a Dr who specializes in sexual health and has dedicated his practice specifically to implants and issues specifically with the penis!

I love my 3 piece ! It's the next best thing to a natural erection and in some ways surpasses it . There's a reason why the moniker " Bionic " is associated with this device.

Good luck on your choice, I get my new revision the end of June, 3 piece to replace the 3 piece coloplast that failed. Going with AMS this time.

People who do well with implants usually disappear from the forum, because they are too busy fucking, heheh. (but without a doubt we are the majority)

Actually, most of us need a period of rest, after months or years of tension due to this situation.

What I mean is that people come looking for answers when things aren't going well for them, which makes what we read a little biased.

There are implants for almost all tastes and conditions, dedicate yourself to searching carefully for the one that suits you.

I have many gigabytes of information that I have read very carefully (I was not limited to the content of this forum).

I have contradicted and argued with my doctor, I have agreed with him, until I reached my solution.

I don't know if it's the best solution, but I can't blame anyone for it.

Hey Duke-
We have all been through something similar, that's why most of us are here. ED does suck, it affects a man's life in so many negative ways. There are fixes, just go see a good urologist who deals in men's sexual health. In my 4 1/2 years of having a Titan it has been great. No scheduling sex to wait on a pill or go stick a needle in my penis.

18 Months in here Coloplast Titan. Came from an awful over 3 years ED. Pills, injections etc didn't help. I've had no issues with the Titan and I do agree with some mention of others opinions on here who had issues. For much of my time on here I've heard so much positive regarding the 3 piece. GL to ya.

This is a pretty glowing review, Rider. I guess I didn't realize the 3-piece was so incredibly popular compared to the malleable. But! Isn't there a risk of erosion with the IPP, too? I mean, you still have tubes stuck in your corporal bodies.

Thank you for this - this seems to make a lot of sense.

I am simply terrified of the idea of a 6-week recovery period, then the possibility that the pump or something is a dud, then another 6-week recovery from a revision surgery. Meanwhile I could have been fixed up in a single week with a malleable...

You are definitely not alone with those feelings.

I think we have all gone through similar things and feelings. Although with particularities, accidents, protatectomy, neuralgia, etc.

I tried to make a roadmap of what we faced in the process, procedures, fears, satisfactions, etc. in case it is useful to someone and they can identify with it or complement it if they feel something is missing. Emphasizing that each person must take responsibility for their decision.
Of course I am referring to things that may be common to everyone, but it is a starting point for lost souls... hehe
