Ok some know my story (in my signature) but here's an update of sorts. Still waiting, insurance original said it was covered then said oops my bad we aren't covering it ( after having the revision ). Insurance is pretty much ghosting me now, I've sent in their appeals form and absolutely nothing since. I've had someone reach out and offer to try to help get insurance issue resolved which I hope they can ( cause face it, otherwise the current outcome sucks ). I'll keep you guys posted on that as I can.
Also it was noted in the surgeons notes on my second surgery ( revision ) that they left the reservoir in place and did not remove it. Is this normal? So now I have two flat reservoir's in me - original on the left side and revision one on the right side. Oh well I guess if I get to have this one replaced they'll remove one of them I guess if not both maybe.... Thanks for all your help and info guys and keep it coming, it might not help me but could very well help someone else..

Re: Update on my story
Don’t know who your surgeon is but I think I would get a different one. Hope it all works out. Hospital(urologist) should have been sure insurance was settled long before anything was touched. Good luck and keep us posted
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong and loving it!
Re: Update on my story
My original reservoir was left in during the revision. The surgeon told me that he’d probably leave it in, so far, no issues.
Regarding the insurance, that is all on the Dr. and his staff. They should have that cleared before the surgery. Good luck.

Re: Update on my story
Ok to clear up some things. Before the first surgery I called my insurance and they confirmed ( told me yes the surgery and device were covered ). I called again before the revision and again was told both were covered. Both the Dr and Hospital said if insurance had told them it wasn't covered they would not have issued a estimate of the bill ( they were told how much insurance covered ) and would have told me I would need to find a different way to pay and that it would have been done before either surgery. So insurance basically lied to all three of us ( me, Dr, and hospital ). A lawyer has been in touch and is going to see what they can do, but I don't want to say more than that until I hear back from them after sending them all the info ( I don't want to jinx myself ). I hope they can get insurance to pay it all like they said they would, and pay for this next revision.
I have talked to several of the big time lawyers who have pretty much said I'd win the case, but because there's no wrongful death or serious injury they won't take the case because there is no money in it for them. So the big lawyers won't take it because there won't be a huge settlement payment and the only option is to find a smaller experienced lawyer if you can who will take the case which of course then requires you to pay huge amounts up front to bring the suit against the insurance, they know this and know the cost is daunting and almost as much as just giving up and paying yourself. But the kicker is all the big lawyers said if I get a smaller lawyer to take case to have the small guy contact them and they would help out. Uhh no, you wouldn't help so why would I let you help just so you can take money away from the one who is going to help?

Re: Update on my story
Situations like this strengthen my resolve in not getting implanted.
Would you consider getting a malleable to avoid going through this again on the inevitable future malfunction?

Born 6/15/74. I have substantial venous leak with fairly severe hour-glassing, but no hard plaques. My urologist is sexual health expert Dr. Laurence Levine who performed a Doppler Ultrasound and diagnosed me with VL in 2020. I also have mild BPH

For me, no I wouldn't consider a malleable implant. To hard to conceal, always erect ( would be painful ) and being erect all the time would also make erosion a very big possibility. I'll stick with the 3 piece even with my bad luck, overall they have an excellent history usually not needed a revision for at least 12 to 15 years or longer. I just have rotten luck at times.

Re: Update on my story
You been going through too much with revisions and fighting the insurance company. Keep after them, don't give in. Hopefully someone has proof of their first Yes before changing their mind.
Once you get fixed you need to use it to F the insurance company.

Re: Update on my story
New update today 7-5-24. It appears that my insurance is going to reprocess all my claims on the past surgeries and pay them. Since my insurance is a self pay plan they told HR that they will reprocess and pay the claims then repay the money back to the company once everything is done. I guess you could say that's about as close to admission of guilt as you can get. Now to just find out if they are going to pay for this revision as well. I'll find out more next week according to them. I hope that they'll pay the revision as well, otherwise I'm still just as screwed physically but without the huge past bills.
