Hello all, I been on this forum a bunch lately trying to find my best next move. The implant is a real permanent fix but i feel there's some drawbacks to the whole procedure and I'm not too sure I'm ready for that. I heard many men say not to go for the implant if you haven't given injections a good go. I know injections can cause fibrosis which is my only big fear. I see there's a lot of different formulas of injections. Is there a version of injections that cause less fibrosis? Ideally i would want to stay on injections long term until a new regenerative therapy comes out. So my question is for the injection marathoners, how long have you been on injections and was it smooth sailing or lots of bumps in the road?
Thanks

Re: Injection long term users?
I've been taking Caverject / Viridal Duo for around 2 years now, at the beginning it worked a lot better than it does now, it's not painful injecting or anything so try not to worry about that. I'm at the stage now that after just under 2 years I believe they are starting to not work as they once did. My last resort is to try another brand which is, "Invicorp". If this doesn't work well then I have no option but to look into getting an implant which is scary but also exciting seeing as I just keep getting more and more depressed using injections knowing they are not working well anymore.
I don't know if people really inject for too long as like you said, fibrosis. I do believe it eventually happens, I've been advised by many people to not even use injections and go straight to the implant, but urologists rather you try all routes before going to the extreme seeing as there is no coming back from an implant. Everyone that I've spoken to has regret not getting the implant sooner and say they've wasted their time injecting as they eventually lose size etc which they had to work to get back (Pumping etc). Sorry my post wasn't very helpful, but I did find online that alprostadil injections (Caverject and Viridal Duo) are less likely to cause Fibrosis. There is some reports about discomfort using these ones though, I've experienced it also. It may be different for other people but when I'm not having sex there seems to be pain there for me, and I'm extremely rock hard, I know that may sound good but it's painful, the only time it doesn't happen is when I'm having sex. Also seeing as the erection can last many hours, after i'm finished having sex, I could still be hard for hours and in pain(May not be for others). Invicorp (The one i'm about to try) is apparently a lot less painful and people try this when the alprostadil injections don't work very well.
Good luck with what you decide and hope you get the help you need.

Re: Injection long term users?
I've been using Trimix for just over two years.
I developed Peyronies during this time.
I recently had an ultrasound which confirmed that I had the plaque that is a symptom of Peyronies.
I asked my urologist if the scarring he saw with ultrasound was due to Trimix injections or if there was any scarring in those areas that I injected.
The scarring which I have is along the dorsal side (middle top) of the penis, which is an area that I would never inject.
His response was he did not see any scarring in those areas that I injected. But it's not known if the injections were at all responsible for the scarring.
I would note that my Peyronies happened when I was on Beta Blockers, which are a known cause of Peyronies. Beta blockers work by slowing down the heart which causes low blood flow. Also, my Peyronies happened when I had pneumonia, there was no sex or erections for over a month.

Re: Injection long term users?
From reading FT comments for years, there seems to be no consensus on whether injecting inevitably causes fibrosis or scarring. Might happen to some guys but not others. I've injected for seven years with no scarring. Txagq8 says he has injected for 32 years with no scarring.

Age 79 in 2024. On testosterone replacement due to hypothalamus malfunction. (Attention depressed guys: low testosterone is a cause.) Healthy health nut but ED due to getting old. Like to keep enough cardiovascular ability to thrust for 30 min.

That's great success. Do you get checked for fibrosis often? Are you supposed to have regular visits with your urologist for that? How often?

I don't know if a urologist could check for fibrosis without cutting the penis open as they do for implanting. I've never been checked, anyway, and my doc has never mentioned periodic checks. Next time I see him I'll ask him.

They can sometimes feel fibrosis or they can do ultrasound, but it’s expensive and in my experience they don’t really care because even if you have fibrosis there isn’t anything they can offer you for it.

Re: Injection long term users?
I'm at 9 years now using injections, approximately three 20-unit injections per week and no signs of fibrosis. One thing I always do after an injection at the injection point is massage that area for about 30 seconds. I rarely get bruises or any excess bleeding.
I'd also like to add that for about five years, I used an out-of-state pharmacy to supply my Trimix, and it worked well. But, for the last four years, I have been using a different in-state compounding pharmacy and the potency of their formula seems to work about 25% better than the previous pharmacy. Both were the exact same prescriptions, but one RX seems to work better than the other.
