Do injections lose effectiveness over time?

I previously posted that I have become impotent after a spinal cord injury at the age of 24 and I am currently thinking about getting married and I went to the doctor to discuss the available options and tried Viagra but no erection occurred despite increasing the dose and in my country there are no stent implants and there are no surgeons to perform these operations and now all that remains is to try injections but the doctor does not recommend this option so I want to ask some questions. How long can I rely on erection injections before they lose their effectiveness because the doctor told me that they may remain effective for two or three years if used once a week before they lose their effect completely? Regardless of the side-effect of injections to the penile tissue or the possibility of a persistent erection, do penis injections lose their effectiveness over time? I actually do not trust this doctor and I feel that he has a bias against injections so it seems that he does not want to be neutral towards the method of treating erection with injections.

Probably 2,000 injections and no more than 10 misfires in 15 years. None of the 3 family doctors who are willing to write the prescriptions based on the urologist original prescription had ever heard of shots as opposed to Viagra and Cialis. I have no scarring at all. I have sung the praises of Tri-Mix to several older men, but I have not convinced any to be willing to get a shot down there. I wish that I knew about this magic potion at 30 years old.

Sex is sincerely much better at 60 plus than it was at 30.

Injections can lose effectiveness for some guys, other guys use them for years as noted by NothingLikeNeedles. Read the Injections forum here and you will see numerous guys who inject and have been for a long time.
My advice is find a new doctor who will listen to you. Life is meant to be enjoyed. If you're getting married part of that commitment is to procreate. (have sex) You can't do that without an erection. Best of luck.

I am thinking of getting married at the age of 35 to ensure getting an effective injection that is guaranteed to work for at least 15 years of effectiveness with use once a week or once every two weeks to ensure the success of the marriage.

Unfortunately, doctors here have a general tendency to consider injections as a diagnostic and not a treatment option, so the doctor told me to try the tablet option and if it doesn't work I should just give up.

I tried the original Viagra but didn't get any results so I will try other products like Cialis but I don't expect a good result.

Usually they stop being effective for men who don't at least try to treat the real problems that made them have ED in the first place.

Some men are stabile on a dose for a vary long time. Others need increasing doses over time.

My dose requirement increased for the first few years I used injections but it stabilized and I’ve been on the same (high) dose for a while.

I would get a second opinion from a different urologist. You are interested in trying injections. Call other urologists office. Ask them if they treat erectile dysfunction. Ask them if they prescribe injections for the treatment of ED.

It's unknown how long injections will work for you. Your ED is not due to normal aging or poor vascular health. Those causes tend to get worse over time eventually causing the injections to no longer be a sufficient solution. As your ED is due to the spinal injury the injections may work for a very long time or until you develop the physical vascular infirmaties that generally cause ED and generally get worse over time. I'm at 12+ years on injections and I haven't noticed any degredation of effectiveness. My ED was caused by nerve damage/removal during a non nerve sparing prostatectomy. I suspect the injections will work for me until I develop severe enough cardio vascular disease.

I’m that guy. The one who injected >30 years. 32 if anyone’s counting.

Shots will work when and where pills won’t. The medication exerts certain effects on the smooth muscle tissue of the penis as well as the vascular system and, to put it bluntly, your dick has no course of action except to develop an erection.

Do some guys build up a tolerance to the meds? Yeah. Does venous leakage worsen over time and get to the point shots become less reliable? Yeah.

The week before I got my implant I used some leftover trimix and got a great erection. Only downside is while thrusting I would lose some of hardness and end up with a semi after half an hour. I decided it was time to go the implant route.

32 years at an average of 150 shots/year I’ve self injected 5000 times. Never ended up in a hospital ER for priapism. When I got my implant there was no sign of fibrosis or injury from the shots.

It’s unwise to rip out your wiring and go implant if shots are effective. There’s nothing to giving yourself a shot. It sounds far worse than it is.
