Do I have to ice post-op?

Postby twelvepillarscup » Fri Feb 07, 2025 3:54 am

I don't find it as satisfying as other people do. Is it necessary?

Never put ice in it, I even put a hot thermal bag in it, which recharged like a smartphone, it worked perfectly for me

Seems like most surgeons recommend icing to reduce swelling for the first few days.

I would trust the surgeon’s instructions over anyone else’s.

Ice is recommended by many on this site, but at my implant there was no mention of ice. I did some, but soon I wanted warmth.

I used bags of frozen veggies but not directly on the skin for the first few days after surgery, which helps reduce swelling. After a few days and the swelling was reduced, I switched to a heating pad, which helps speed up healing.

I never liked any sort of ice treatment. Did not use ice myself after surgery, never mentioned by doc.
Once my incision was healed and doc allowed me to bathe, a hot bath every morning was my "feel good" soreness relief.
