I've been on Tadalafil for a few years, 10mg daily. When I am able to get an erection it's only 50% of the hardness it used to be and just hard enough to masturbate with so I'm really looking into an implant.
I've read some posts where comments have been made about the implant pushing into the head, is this a normal occurrence or something that's rare? I ask because I was foolish and split my glans in half a couple of years ago so I hope the implant doesn't push into it.
And how rare are complications? Maybe it's just posts from people who have had difficulties and not as many from those who haven't had problems but there seems to be more men who experience complications than I'd like.
I'm not attached to anyone so the only release I get is from masturbation so I wonder if I should keep going with the pills or go for the implant? I've got neuropathy going on with my hands, I still have the strength I think to be able to use the pump so I'm pushing to get this done before I lose the ability with my hands and need to switch to a malleable. I also want to get an inflatable to expand the chambers as much a possible to fit a larger malleable than what I could do now when that time comes.
If you were in my shoes would you go for an implant or stick with the pills? For those who have had the implant, how was your experience? Did things go smoothly or did you have any complications?
Thank you for your time.
Implant Questions
Re: Implant Questions
Most would say that I am the exception. Had a very easy surgery, easy recovery, first inflate at about 13 days. First sex about 20 some odd days. Discomfort thru it all but very little bad pain. Hardest part was first few months of pumping(exercising) the IPP. Has been the best thing I’ve done in 15 years either my ED! Love my implant! Wife loves the implant! Zero complaints. A couple months away from being 3 years. It takes time however to get used to having a shower! No more shrinking up and stretching it out to pee. Once you get past 6-8 months it’s just your new normal. After a year or so it’s just ther and normal.
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast with Classic pump 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong
Re: Implant Questions
rsbatem, very sorry to hear about your situation. I had an IPP implanted in Feb, my recovery was unusually rough, but things turned around after about 10 weeks and I've been very thankful I decided to go down that path. The tips of the implant are seated inside the glans/head to keep the tip stable. The term "floppy glans" is used to describe a condition where the glans move around too much because the tips are not seated in a way to be stable.
You said you wanted to do an IPP first to increase size, then an MPP later to accommodate challenges with your hands. I would advise that you consult with a good urologist, or multiple urologists, about the expected size increase, timeframe, revision surgery, and what to reasonably expect. There are lots of forum members who will tell you that MPP's are very effective implants and a great choice for many. You may want to search for "Malleable" in the Implants forum to get their perspectives. Here's one to start with:

If you get to the point of looking for urology help here are some Dr's and practices recommended by fellow forum members.
