I am on the T-shots for more than a year.
It is hard to believe how much it made a difference. Before I had a perfect T-level... for a 70yo person while being in 30-th
Anyway the nice side effect was the increased libido. Though it did not last for too long. With the time I got a nice T-level (free & bio-available) but unfortunately the libido went down to the previous low level.
So it looks like good T-level doesn't guarantee the good libido. I suspect the reduced libido is linked to the vitamin supplements I am taking. Here is what I use:
http://www.iherb.com/Rainbow-Light-Just-Once-Men-s-One-Food-Based-Multivitamin-150-Tablets/14194
It contains a very good set of vitamins and minerals for men but also includes Saw Palmento which has a known side effect of reduced libido.
Anybody has suggestions what else could cause low libido?
High testosterone and low libido.

Fatigue and stress are big contributors. Also many medications affect libido. Check the side effects of any meds you are taking.

Well from the meds it is Testosterone and that's it.
Also cannot say I am stressed or tired. I am getting at least 7hrs of sleep every night.
That's why I am puzzled...
Thanks anyway.

Danny.
What is the amount of Testosterone you are taking weekly? What is your dosing regimen. Dr. Crisler on his website has recently recommended EOD subcutaneous injections. Dr. Shippen, according the Yahoo hypogonadism boys, recommends dividing the weekly dose into shots E3D.
I have started TRT in the last two months and have noticed no appreciable increase in libido.
How long did it take before you really felt results?
Did you post that you were in your thirties??????
Thanks. Looking forward to comparing notes on this.
E2 is the big monster all guys on T injections talk about and worry about.

Re: High testosterone and low libido.
I am taking 180 mg weekly via butts' injections.
Befora I was on 200mg but that turned out to be a bit too high on bio-available and free testosterone.
I've started the therapy about 1.5 years ago. Before the therapy I was contantly grumpy and often suisadal thought. So injections changed dramatically my mood. I' ve started with 200mg monthly. It made no difference. Then I went to 200mg by-weekly with also no change. Then it was increased to 300mg by-weekly. That's when I started noticing a little bit of the effect though analysis still were showing lower than normal level. Then I've got a prescription for 200mg weekly. That's when I saw quite a difference with the libido. Pretty much almost every woman looked to me sexually attractive .
But the analysis indicated that I am a bit too high though my doc was not concerned of that. He just suggested to reduce to 160mg weekly but did not even bother to change the prescription. I changed to 160mg but that went bad. I've started feeling tired again and my mood got worse. So I increased a bit to 180mg weekly and settled on that since it was OK for the mood though not so great for the libido. Then I started taking vitamins that I mentioned in the first post and that put my libido even further down. Though the positive effect was that I do not loose that much of hair as it was when I was on 200mg weekly. I used to have good genetics for the hair but T-shots would make me bold within probably couple of years. Though honestly I would prefer to be bold in the good mood rather than hairy but constantly depressed .
Of course I would want to have high libido and hairs but looks like this combination is not realistic
For now before our traditional weekend sex evenings I just stop taking vitamins few days in advance. This way it doesn't suppress my libido. Then after sex day I resume taking vitamins to reduce hair loss. Seems to be working...
How was my t-level in my 30th I have no idea since it did not occur to my family doctor even to check it as he though I was too young for this type of problems. Instead he fed me tons of antidepressant that had virtually no positive effect. When I moved to a new place my new family doctor sent me for the T-check as the very first thing to verify. That's when I found that my T was 3 times lower the minimum level for my age...

Re: High testosterone and low libido.
No Currently my T-level is on its high marks... maybe even slightly above high marks.
Hmmm... Never heard about BHRT doctors. I am not even sure such a specialty exists under our public healthcare (I am from Canada), but I am going to check it out.
Thank you for the advise.

Re: High testosterone and low libido.
You may now have high estrogen. We have something in our bodies called aromatase enzyme. This converts testosterone to estrogen. If you have to much estrogen, it will kill your sex drive. Older men have more of this enzyme, especially if you have a gut.
