ED / Masturbating

Postby LiverpoolLad » Sun Sep 07, 2025 7:59 am

Hi all,

I’ve had ED as long as I can remember and seem to find in any situation, even masturbating on my own I’ll only have a semi erection most of the way through which is very unreliable, then it only becomes more rigid the moment before climax.

Have others found the same when struggling with ED?

Go see a men's sexual health urologist. There are many options out there, no sense living life with broken equipment.

Yes, I had a similar experience. As my ED got worse and worse I would experience an improvement of my erection in the moments leading up to orgasm. It makes sense that in the moments leading up to climax the blood flowing in increases and the blood gets trapped better. Men with perfectly functional penises experience that too. Their penis gets extra hard and swells a bit as they approach orgasm. But in our case (guys with ED) that extra ooomph, still isn’t enough to make penetrating sex successful.

Find a good urologist who is experienced with Men’s sexual health, not just treating kidney stones and enlarged prostates.

Get checked out. A Doppler is fine but really just an academic exercise. It doesn’t matter if the Doppler scan finds arterial insufficiency (not enough blood getting in), venous leak (not enough blood getting trapped in the penis during arousal), a combination, or neither. The treatment is still the same. Pills first. Then shots if you are willing to do them. And finally implant.

I did pills for 5 years, shots for nearly 10, and was implanted in March. I LOVE THIS THING!!! It’s amazing. I’m having great sex and I don’t worry for a moment whether it will work or not. And the sex feels better because my brain interprets a HARD cock as “OMG! I’m so turned on!”

Sorry you have ED, but there is a solution. You may need to search around a bit to find the right doc to help you so keep pushing.

If you mention where you love other guys in your area might have recommendations for urologists.

Thanks all & GoodWood! I’ll

I think that’s pretty much what I’ve been experiencing, super unreliable in any situation even on my own.

Injections haven’t really been able to produce a full erection either which is slightly concerning..

I’ve booked in to speak with the nurse to discuss implant models/though will have a bit of a wait for this. Hopefully once I’ve decided the wait for surgery wont be too long.

Hey LiverpoolLad - yes, this has been my experience as well. And after climix things are rigid for a bit, but settle down quite quick. You might have a venous leak, which is what I was recently diagnosed with, where blood flow into the penis is good but you lose the erection quickly due to blood flowing out fast.

Agree with what GoodWood’s assessment. Also - I feel like it was worth getting the ultrasound done for me, just because it was very validating to know the exact cause of my issue. It has made the decision to move forward with an implant much more clear for me.
Diagnosed with venous leak after having ED majority of my life. Grateful to have some answers, and considering both MPP and IPP as options.

Thanks for your response man, yeah I think it could either be that or I do have a disability which could possibly affect erectile function.

Sounds like you’re in a good place to move forward! How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m 32! Because I’m on the younger side, I’m weighing out the pros and cons of starting with an MPP vs starting with an IPP. Both types have their advantages and drawbacks, and as you’ve probably read there’s a lot of debate (which sometimes devolves more into “noise” over debate :D ) on when one is a better choice over the other. But the more information, the better.

Eventually though, I’m just going to have to pull the trigger and get it done. Despite not having my decision yet on type of prosthesis, I’m definitely confident it’s the right decision.

Ah of course man we’re very close in age so obviously would be thought for myself too. I have read the debates

I think for me I’ll go with what my surgeon thinks/gut feeling really - it feels daunting but I’m sure a right decision will be made when I get there. I’m sure the same for you too!

If you pick the right surgeon and trust them, this is a very good way to go about it in my opinion. As long as they have a strong understanding of what’s important to you and your long term goals, you can make the decision with confidence!

My initial conversations with Dr Hakky have been very focused on diagnosis of the issue first - but when we have talked implant strategy, what I really really like about him is he is clearly most focused on what’s right for the individual patient he’s working with + what that patient values. While he himself told me he felt that the IPP could bring a lot of value to me given my specific case, he definitely understands my thought process on risk aversion and the potential benefit the MPP brings in that area. If your surgeon seeks to understand what you value and makes their recommendations based on that + their medical expertise, you’re going to be in great shape.
