can I still get an implant even if I respond well to injections?

Postby macoza » Thu Sep 25, 2025 9:44 am

Right now I'm doing injections and even though I'm responding well to them I feel they're a nuisance and risk. Thats why I'm heavily thinking about getting an implant. Would the uro approve of me getting an implant although injections work? Has anyone been in this situation?

There are plenty of guys that have skipped injections all together so I can't see why not. There definitely is a risk of scaring and peyronies with injections
43, ED since late 20's, Pills on and off since then increasing strengths with inconsistent results. Now 5mg Cialis daily and either 20mg Cialis or 100mg Viagra
Not sure if it's Psychological or Physiological, long-term use of SSRI's probably hasn't helped

For sure.
Injections eventually lose effect and cause scarring over time.
I thought they were amazing the first time i injected trimix but I was very glad to do my last quadmix injection back in July.

Cutting to the chase with the implant is not giving up in any way. Its just getting ahead of the eventual ending most men face with injections.

Im newly implanted and I've only used it for sex once so far but it was amazing to be able to get after it with no planning, no pills and no injections.

macoza, FWIW, my doc told me that for insurance purposes the implant was last resort only if other treatments, including injections, didn't work. But he didn't ask me to prove it. So no problem.

I have been doing injections for the last two years with pretty decent results However…. I have started to get scarring and they are quite painful afterwards.
Scheduled for implant October 9th as I do not see injections as a future option and do not want to risk more scarring.
Will also be great to go on our getaways and not deal with packing injections…

Boatdrinks have you also developed a curve as a result of injections scarring?

Thisworld,
No more curve than I have ever had which is very slight. BUT, I don’t need that in my life as well. The scarring and the pain is what brought me here. That along with just the ability to be spontaneous with my wife again and have that good feeling. Yea, can’t wait!!

FYI I have been using injections for a decade and they still give me very hard erections. But I’m getting an implant, because Trimix seems to have reduced my orgasm response, and I’m concerned that I’m playing Russian Roulette with scarring (none so far, thankfully).

Also I’m newly single and don’t want to deal with the hassle of injection therapy with new partners. Time will tell if this is the right decision, but at least for now I feel pretty confident in the choice.

I got an implant and never even tried injections. Pills were becoming less and less effective, and I didn't like the side effects. For me it was mostly flushing and a very, very stuffy nose. But never mind side effects: my erection often went down before me or my partner were ready for it to.

In the old days, the "official recommendation" was that you shouldn't get an implant unless you had tried everything else possible. But googling around, I found that the official urology advice had changed. They still recommend pills first, but after that, injections and implants are both considered reasonable next steps. (I'm afraid I can't remember the link or the name of whatever urology doctor's group this was. I'm sure google or Dr. ChatGPT can help you.)

I wanted the spontaneity of the implant. I didn't like the idea of carrying drugs on a trip, or having to head off to do the injection. For me, the implant has worked perfectly. I absolutely love it.

I hated injections. They worked 2/10 times and we're a major pain for travel and spontaneity.

Love my implant. Wish I skipped shots.
Believe post prostate surgery I was around 5 inches down from 6. Never measured girth but post titan otr 20 cm seems thicker.
