hotel the night of surgery or stay in hospital?
Scheduled for surgery next week. Was offered to either spend the night or go to Hilton nearby and go to the office the next day for nurse check. I will be having a catheter for that time. Any suggestions? My partner will be there to help and drive for me.
67 years young struggling with ED for more than 8 years. Cycled through pills, PRP, Shock therapy, stem cells. Scheduled for AMS 700 with Dr. D. Patel in San Diego 3/25/26!

Re: hotel the night of surgery or stay in hospital?
Personally, I much prefer a hotel over a bacteria ridden hospital. I can't sleep in a hospital.
I didn't have a catheter, so I don't know how much more hassle that will be (if at all), but given the choice I'll always choose my own private space over a hospital room.
Dr. Clavell just required I urinated a certain amount prior to being released. Knowing this, I cheated a bit and tanked up a little before surgery. The nurse was surprised how much I could urinate so soon after the surgery, but I knew that was my ticket outta there.

Totally agree with Jage64, no real reason to remain in the hospital.
I too did not have a catheter post-op, but I did have one last year for 30 days and they are no big deal as long as you have a leg bag and an overnight bag to hang on the side of the bed.
Also, my doctor gave me his personal cell phone number if I encountered any problem (I didn't have any).
Best of luck with the surgery & recovery.

Hotel.
Can walk around buck naked and your partner can be there
. You two can talk about anything and not have worry about the setting in the hospital.
Sleep would be much better in the hotel. Good luck on the surgery.

Re: hotel the night of surgery or stay in hospital?
To me either bed is going to be strange. I did outpatient and it was a hassle coming home with a catheter and a drain bag. The fact I had to remove them myself the next morning sucked. Even in my own bed that first night I still didn't get much sleep. Truthfully if I had the option I'd stay in the hospital for the night.
Hope all goes well, whatever you decide.
