Support (tight underwear) vs "free and unsupported" (commando)

Postby QuestionGuy » Mon Jul 06, 2026 5:25 pm

When going about life (or especially when exercising), do we know if the implant is safter being supported with tight underwear? or would we be better off lounging around in pajama bottom's .....where its can be free to move about (where there is some play as opposed to tight support)?

I have not seen this discussed, so I wanted to know if anyone had any definitive information. I just had a revision and I'm proactively trying to do my due diligence for supporting my implant as best possible. (ok...fine...I'm now paranoid)

I'm also interested in activities or types of behavior that could be problematic, but I know that's a much bigger debate.

Depends on stage. For first 4 weeks, supportive underwear, penis at 12 o’clock. Once things are healing in, it’s dealer’s choice. I switch up. Still a bit firm at 10 weeks, so I use a lightweight jock at the gym to avoid scaring anyone. At home when I don’t have to worry who’s looking, I like David Archy underwear styled like Separtech. For out and about, trunk style Calvin Klein.

It’s really a comfort issue.

When I workout (treadmill, rowing machine, weights) I wear a jock. I want everything held in place. I don’t like the feeling of everything flopping around while I’m running and rowing. I also don’t want everyone to see The Beast™️ as I wear fairly thin light wear shorts.

At home it’s boxers/trunks/nothing.

In fall/winter/spring I tend to wear cotton trunks (Hemen Biarritz) that are comfortable but not particularly supportive. The pants are a little thicker and everything stays discrete.

In the summer I’m often wearing lightweight dress pants/slacks and I wear more supportive trunks (Krakatoa) so The Beast™️ isn’t so visible hanging down my left leg.

All figured out by trial and error. You’ll figure out what works best for you.

Underwear support during early recovery has been discussed ad nauseam here on FT. Mostly in the context of compression durning the first weeks and concealing the new shower.

However, after healed and implant starts hanging naturally, I don’t think the implant needs any more support than you would give to your natural penis. Around 90 days, I basically reverted back to the same underwear I wore before implant in order of frequency;
1). Boxers for every day comfort and casual wear.
2). David Archy pouch for light activity. Also since implant, to tame the larger bulge when needed.
3). Jockey Sport stability pouch for more demanding physical activities and the gym. Used to be a jock but now the sport pouch is enough.

I wear the same supporting underwater, for certain activities, as I did before implant. Back then to control bouncing of the testicles, and chafing of the scrotum, inner thighs, and penis glans. Now add on the pump is also stabilized durning activity. But I’me not taking extra care or doing anything different than before implant .

I wore jockstrap first few weeks after surgery. Boxer briefs kind of guy. Mostly wear separatec or david archy with the pouch. I was wearing those before my ipp. For gym, i wear dark gym pants, no underwear. At home just pajamas, no underwear. I wear underwear always while at work, but for normal going out to groceries on weekends, sometimes i just go commando. I always sleep with regular pjs only. Im used to having no underwear. To each his own
