"turtle" before IPP?

Curious if anyone here who now is proudly a "bionic", were you a turtle (grower) before IPP and what did the implant do for your flaccid state versus the years as turtle? I am curious as to how the surgeon places the cylinders in far enough to give new flaccid or how they even get good measure? So many questions in the long wait. billy
