what to expect?
Just got my Rx for trimix through the mail. I'ts in the frig. Next step is setting up an appt. with the local urologist to be taught how to inject myself. Any advice, suggestions, precautions, etc? I had surgery for prostate cancer with the DaVinci tool this past August. Have been using a vacuum pump, and taking either Cialis or Levitra since then.

Hello Silver,
I think "first injection" protocol varies from uro to uro, but the basic procedure is still the same. The doc will hold your most precious body part in his/her gloved hand and show you how to load the syringe, exactly where and at what angle to insert the tiny needle, how to push the plunger, and how to pull out the syringe. Then you will probably be left alone for a few minutes to contemplate your manhood while feeling strange stirrings in your nether region. If your experience is anything like mine, you'll have a hard-on in about 10 minutes like you haven't seen in decades. Mine brought tears to my eyes. The doc will come back in, inspect his handiwork, and then send you home. In some cases, the doc will make you wait an hour or so to make sure that Little Silver delfates on a timely basis. My doc did not do that: he sent me home to enjoy myself. You might want to be prepared to do the same.
Caveat: I understand that sometimes the trimix doesn't work. I also understand that those cases are rare. So my advice is to assume the best but don't lose heart or give up if things do not live "up" to expectations. There are other formulas and even other therapies.
Caveat #2: Between now and your appointment, read everthing under the "Injections" forum on this site. You will find lots of discussions, including what to do if that hard-on persists after you're finished with it. That's important information.
Best wishes, my friend. We're cheering you on. Let us know how it goes. And come join us in the Chat Room. We have a good time and actually do get around to sharing some good stuff.
Here's to hard times,
Greg

Re: what to expect?
Saw the urologist today. He showed me how to inject myself. He used .10 cc of Trimix. Within about 10-15 minutes I had an erection- not as swollen as prior to surgery but hard enough for intercourse. It last for about two and a half hours. It felt so good to be functional again. He said depending on how this trial goes he might increase it to 0.12 ccs next week. The head did not get swollen like before. Is that typical? My penis ached after a while. I assume because it's been so long since I had a "natural" erection. I do use a vacuum pump several times a week. And thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Re: what to expect?
I saw the urologist this afternoon. He injected me with 0.10 ccs of Trimix. I got an erection in about 10-15 minutes. It was not as swollen as prior to surgery, the head in particular, but it worked just fine. The erection lasted about 2 and a half hours. My penis was aching after a while. I was wondering if that's because it's been so long since I had a natural erection, although I pump several times a week. The urologist said he might increase the dosage to 0.12 ccs next week depending on how this trial goes. Does the head not get as swollen with the injections or is it a matter of the dosage being a little low? Is it typical to have some soreness in the penis? Have any of you used a cock ring in conjunction with the injections? Any thoughts and suggests are appreciated. Thanks. Lee
Re: what to expect?
The aching was probably from the PGE in the trimix. I've only tried the trimix gel which is inserted through the urethra using a plastic applicator and the PGE component was quiet painful, like a bee sting. I have since used bimix injections with no burning or aching as they are compounded with papaverine and phentolamine.
The head should get engorged with an injection, so maybe you need a tad more. A cock ring can help keep the blood in the penis if your dosing is a bit too low, I've used one when I was trying to find the right dosage since I didn't want to pass on what had already risen. The advantage of a cock ring and injection is arterial blood is warm and beneficial to the penile tissue. A VED only sucks venous blood into the penis and that's why it is colder than normal and is purple vs flesh tone. Some discussion by docs suggest venous blood doesn't help with tissue fibrosis but the answer to that is not definitive, I still use a VED as I think it does help to keep Johnson from shrinking away.
Also, you can't compare your girth when using a VED to au natural, the VED will always produce larger diameter since it is stretching through vacuum rather than filling via blood pressure.

Lee,
Beezer is right. Sometimes one of the ingredients in trimix can cause some uncomfortable aching. The solution might be to move to bimix; it might also be for your trimix formula to be changed, altering the ratio of the three trimix ingredients. But I would counsel you to move slowly on this one unless the aching is terribly uncomfortable. Perhaps one way to determine the best course of action is to identify just how achy the aching is. Is it a "good" ache? Like little Lee has put in a good day's work? Or you're using muscles and stretching tissues that have lain dormant for awhile? That kind of aching might dissapate after taking full advantages of the benefits derived from injections. One way to get rid of soreness in any muscle is to work it harder! You're the only one who can judge what kind of ache you're having and whether or not it requires instant relief. In my case, I have had some aching, particularly at first, but it's always been a "good" ache and it's less achy now than in the beginning. I have had nothing that would send me back to the doc for an alternative to my original trimix formula.
That's just my experience. As always, talk to the doctor and/or the pharmacist. No matter the drug involved, I've always found that the pharmacist is a reliable source of straight talk--with no office visit fee attached!
Continued best wishes. Keep us posted.

Re: what to expect?
Welcome to the injection world. I agree with the others who indicated your aching may go down with time. Mine did. As was also suggested, you may need to have the urologist alter your mix. It took me about 3 times to find what really was best for me. I can get a very nice woodie and keep it for a couple hours. The mix will last about 4 months or so before it starts to lose it's potency. However, when that happens, if you still have any left, you can still use it, but it will take more. You'll discover all these things as time goes on. When I first started, I wore a cock ring while injecting and kept it on for a few minutes, but I don't do that anymore. My dick's head never has swollen that much, but I can still use it for it's intended purpose. One problem for me is that my sensation is considerably less but I think some of that is caused by my Type II diabetes and probably my prostate cancer surgery. I'm just glad to have a usable erection. Oh, yes, the uro instructed me thru my first injection as well. My wife was with me and he left us alone for about 10 minutes. He didn't give me a full dose...just wanted to see if I was going to react to it. I did and we left with a partially inflated penis. He said if I wanted, I could go home and do an additional Trimix injection if I wanted.
