Venous Leak: DDV vs Crural Leakage

I know that DDV ligation surgery has a bad success rate - it's non-specific and usually follows an ultrasound doppler which is a relatively crude diagnostic test for venous leak (all you get are numerical data vs. anatomical indications). What is more, it will do nothing for individuals whose leaks are not intimately associated with the DDV e.g. those whose leaks are flowing out through the crural veins.

Now, this is where I need guidance - from what I read in the literature, crural ligation seems to be conducted on a much more specific sub-population of ED patients who have typically undergone a CT scan which has physically indicated a leak through the crural veins after other venous leak treatments have been unfruitful and because of this has a higher success rate than DDV ligation, which I understand is basically a "well, it may or may not be a dorsal vein leakage but if so...great!"

I need those individuals who have had SPECIFICALLY crural ligation to clarify for me I.) whether a diagnosis of a crural leak was made or whether their urologist simply adopted a "well it's worth a go" philosophy without having strong diagnostic proof and ii.) did it help?

While contemplating getting an implant, I came in contact with a Franktalk member who had crural ligation surgery. His surgery resulted in failure and an infection.
