I'm currently in a bit of a dilemma. Savage venous leak not cured by sclerotherapy (although did improve short-term) and somewhat responsive to Cialis, although condoms are a complete no-go. To put a number on it I'd say I'm at 30-40%.
An implant, if successful and without complications, would get me at 100%. If there is an infection or problem, I've gone from 40% to 0%.
I'm basically not too sure what to do. Im truly unhappy with my current erectile function but I feel bad risking the 40% activity I currently have, even if it makes casual sex essentially impossible.
Any advice much appreciated. I'd especially love to hear from those whose activity has steadily declined re: the point at which they decided "enough is enough".
Should I wait until I'm at 0% function before getting implant?

38 Years Old. HF symptoms since age 23 (tight pelvic floor).
Tried pills, sclerotherapy.
At about 40% function currently but reluctant to wait much longer for an implant.

Re: Should I wait until I'm at 0% function before getting implant?
My opinion........don't wait, the longer you wait the more it may affect your mindset and also your present length....I was probably at about 65% with pills and 90% with injections that included a Cialis and wearing a constriction band.....I was tired with all the fuss and decided to get the implant as soon as I could (I put it off several months only because of my schedule - if not for that I would have gotten it sooner).....I'm now 24 days out of surgery and am cycling.....while I haven't had sex with it yet, I have orgasmed which was a crucial point in this journey.....I have a rock hard penis that works when I want and for however long I want.....so again, I would advise you not to wait until you are at 0%.....that IMO accomplishes nothing.....

Re: Should I wait until I'm at 0% function before getting implant?
I am a little over one month post op and still not sure if I am glad I got the implant or not. I've had issues with venous leak for the last decade and did have good blood flow but could never trap it unless I used ED meds with a band which did work pretty well. In some ways I regret not looking into my options for correcting venous leak since I was able to get solid erections. I did ask several urologist about surgery options for venous leak but they made me feel like it was not worth looking into however I do wish I would have met with a surgery who specializes in repairing venous leak.
The issues I am having now that make me question my decision to get an implant are not being able to deflate my penis all the way to be able to wear it comfortably with clothes on and the biggest issue I now have is a slightly upward curved penis that makes it challenging to have intercourse in most positions because the pain is pretty bad at times (this could be related to only being 4.5 weeks post op). I was hoping that the upward bend would be favorable with intercourse however it is just causing additional pain right now. I honestly have no idea how I ended up with a curved penis (Penis was straight prior to implant) so I emailed me surgeon to ask him what my options are and what could have caused it.

Implanted on December 28, 2016 by Dr Kramer with a 21 CM AMS LGX. 47 years old and have been dealing with ED due to Venous leak since my 20's.
Re: Should I wait until I'm at 0% function before getting implant?
No. Prior to implant I had a non functional dick useless with pills that in the past worked magic and injections that never worked. It's major surgery no getting around that, going to be some WTF did I do to myself days post op. Throughly vette the surgeon you are considering get all your questions answered.
Implant AMS 700CX MS (21cm x 12mm with 3 RTEs) on Nov 21st 2016. Activation date Dec 22nd 2016
Re: Should I wait until I'm at 0% function before getting implant?
No unless your goal is to see how many disappointments you can have in a row.
LGX 21cm .Milam 01/13/16. Horror; both service and surgical outcome. hated infrapubic installation. Kramer revision 03/01/17. 22cm Titan +1.5cm extender. Those who think their opinion is the only one that matters are a danger to themselves and others.

...once you learn how to hit the deflate button correctly, you'll be able to be as flaccid as you want...as my posts indicated, I had the exact same problem w/ deflation (a two-week "tentpole" which was impossible to hide w/o seriously uncomfortable jockstraps/underwear etc)...nothing nicer to hear that buzzing sound & to feel that drain...

Re: Should I wait until I'm at 0% function before getting implant?
Seeking,
You are in a very similar position to where I was. I was maybe 'better' than 40% with pills, but basically 0% without pills. With the pills I could complete intercourse around 70% of times. But always with restrictions in terms of positions, length of foreplay, pace of the in-and-out etc.
I decided to go for the implant only a couple of months after I truly got to understand what they are and how they work.
I was thinking just like you - that I have something to lose, is it worth the risk.
Well in my case, it was. But I think I got extraordinary results, which not everyone gets. I cannot say how I would have felt about it if I had to endure results like some of the members here.
I will never advice anyone to 'just go for it, you will never regret it'. Because obviously, some people do actually regret it.
But I am (so far) very happy I did it. I had my venous leak since my teens (even though it got worse over time) and hence I am having the best sex of my life now.
Do I regret not having it done earlier?
No. But that's more the way I am. I don't spend (waste) my time regretting things. At least never if I took the best decision at the time with the information available.
And in this case, I think I did.
Finally, if I would try to give any sort of advice or recommendation, I'd say that you are probably doomed to go for it. You are here, asking for info and advice. It means this is already messing with your head. Once I got to that stage there was only one way to go for me.
If you go for it, make sure you pick a surgeon who will give you the lowest possible risk of a poor outcome.

Why would anyone wait to have a useless dead dick to do something about it? If a VED gives you a usable dick but sex is not pleasurable for you or her.
Get an implant dude. Why waste time when your sex life could be incredible? ccrider, Your soooo right about that drain!

Powerful replies here guys, thanks very much.
I guess in a weird way it would be simpler just to take the plunge and thus have a binary outcome...either it's a success and I tick this life problem off the list, or it's not and I can just say to myself 'ok anything re: sex is off for the next 'x' months until my revision" and I can just concentrate on other things. Easier said than done of course, but it might beat the strange situation of feeling confident in the social part of pursuing a lady but dreading the bedroom part...opposite to the VAST majority of most males on earth! Makes you feel like you've got two brains sometimes, one of a normal easy-going person and one of an anxiety-ridden wreck.
