Implant and Exercise

Postby Mstone » Tue Aug 30, 2011 6:59 pm

I am 60 years old and 4 year post RRP. Implant surgery in three weeks. I am receiving the Coloplast Titan. I workout on a regular basis, running and weights. What can I expect in recovery time and time I can expect to resume normal workout activities? Any implant vets that find that there are activities that they can not do after the implant. i.e., bike riding, sking, etc. Thanks for your feedback.

Bud...I try to stay in shape too and can honestly say that after full healing, I have found no restrictions on my exercise and workouts. I also have a Coloplast Titan implant. However....because it is made of relatively stiff plastic...I find it uncomfortable to wear a jock or briefs that tend to hinge the implants and poke the shaft sides. You may have to alter your workout clothing to fina a comfortable combination. Then, maybe not.

I am preparing for two marathons and this is also my concern. I think the best schedule for me would be surgery after my first marathon, giving me about two months before my second one. I think this should be enough time to recover and resume training. Even more than running 20-30 miles/week, I am concerned about bike riding adjustments or precautions that may be needed after an implant (LGX or Titan is likely) as I train for triathlons.
