I had one of the top implant surgeons tell me he prefers the AMS over the Coloplast. How about a response from those who have each, the good and the bad. I have to make a decision on which to go with and would like to know those who have each implants opinion.

AMS LGX vs. Titan OTR
Re: AMS LGX vs. Titan OTR
From what I have read and heard, the Titan is harder in the hard state and the AMS is softer in the soft state. I have a Titan and I love it. A good and entertaining video to compare is:

Dumb question: How can you make a decision if your bio says that you got implanted on January 5th?

Re: AMS LGX vs. Titan OTR
The video posted above is a really excellent discussion, and is accurate as far as I can tell.
There is also a paper from Spain comparing Titan versus AMS cx.
In summary, partner satisfaction was nearly identical, with 92% of women responding that they would describe sexual intercourse after the implant as "very good" or "good". The data showed that there were some male complaints about deflation being slower and more difficult with the titan, but the overall satisfaction appears to be identical comparing the two devices. Across the board, for both implant models, there was some dissatisfaction with overall penile size post implant (this was a group implanted in Spain).
For me, so far, I feel that it is true that Titan is harder and thicker in the hard state, (reportedly, AMS is softer in the flacid state). But, not everyone pumps up their implant to the max everytime during sex, so the hardnesss and thickness of Titan might not be realized in all instances, and based on the similar female satisfaction reported in the study from Spain, maybe the Titan's extra girth does NOT really matter ??
Merrix gives a nice discussion in his journal regarding the debate on Titan versus AMS, and I tend to agree with him. My general sense is that Titans in the flacid state are kindave firm (my 2 week old titan is like that), and that does not bother me (I always wanted a big dick when flacid, and what the heck, I do not mind that it sometimes shows underneath my clothes)
MY BOTTOM LINE: either AMS or Coloplast are great devices, and female satisfaction and patient satisfaction is nearly identical.
My Philosophical line: be happy with what you have and embrace the advantages of what you have (I do that with my car and house as well) and do not dwell on what could have been; it looks like the differences are subtle.
I will paste the abstract from the article from spain shortly

Comparison of the patient and partner satisfaction with 700CX and Titan penile prostheses
Date of Web Publication 22-Jan-2016
Asian Journal of Andrology
Javier Romero Otero,

Abstract
Most widespread three-component penile prosthesis models are 700CX™ and Titan ® . Our purpose is to assess patient and partner satisfaction after the first implant. This is a multicenter, retrospective, nonrandomized study in which all patients who met the inclusion criteria between 2009 and 2013 were included. In total, 248 patients agreed to participate. To evaluate patient satisfaction, a validated but modified 11-question questionnaire was completed (EDITS); and a nonvalidated two-item questionnaire was given to the partner. Statistical analysis used an ordinal logistic regression model. Two hundred and forty-eight patients (194 with 700CX™ vs 54 with Titan ® ) and 207 couples completed the questionnaire (165 with 700CX™ vs 42 with Titan ® ). Overall satisfaction was high. Both showed great reliability for sexual intercourse and high compliance with prior expectations. Most patients were able to manage the penile prosthesis correctly within 6 months. Postoperative penile shortening led to some dissatisfaction in 42% and 46% of cases (700CX™ /Titan ® ). Significant differences were found in three questions of patients' questionnaire. There were more patients satisfied with the 700CX™ (P = 0.0001). No patient with Titan ® implant took longer than 6 months to optimal management. Only 4% of patients with 700CX™ implant were dissatisfied with the deflation, in contrast to 24% with the Titan ® (P = 0.0031). Of the two partners' questions, one showed a statistically significant difference (P = 0.0026). It seems that group 700CX™ would recommend to re-implant the prosthesis with a greater tendency. The overall satisfaction was very high for both prostheses. The final aspect of the erected and flaccid penis was satisfactory, but both groups showed significant discontent with its final size. Partners' overall satisfaction was high.

Re: AMS LGX vs. Titan OTR
I am 79, obese, and had a turtle. I got a Titan on Feb. 3, so I haven't gotten to use it yet, but I'll tell you what I know so far.
The length and circumference of the Titan are AWESOME!. The boner left after surgery is bigger and better than any erection I've seen in 50 years. When Dr. Caesar inflates it fully on Mar. 8, I'm going to need a lion tamer to control it. If it's a bit cumbersome when deflated, why on earth would I complain?
As of right now, I can look at my penis instead of looking for it like I used to.

Re: AMS LGX vs. Titan OTR
Charles, I read your comment, yes I was implanted on Jan. 5th 2017. Problem is a terrible results, cylinders are to short, a loss of 5cm in length, floppy head and the tips are not even. When I pump to the max one cylinder tip, the one to the right protrudes and only extends to the bottom of my penis head. It is also painful when I pump to the max, but I've continued to do so in fear of never gaining back the loss length. I went to the surgeon who performed this blotch, he said just take Viagra to help with the floppy head. He basically feels if the shaft is hard, his job is done. I called Coloplast and explained the situation and asked if they would help in a revision for my issues. I felt they had responsibility as they had the doctor listed as a center of excellence. They agree to waive the fee for another Titan, which I felt was fair.
The reason I ask the question, when I sent pictures to a doctor for revision, he said he would use only a AMS LGX. He said he could offer another doctor who would use the Titian and I could save the 12/K out of pocket. I explained to him, I'm willing to do what is best to fix the issues. As I told him, I herd an IPP would change my life forever, I just thought the change would be good. Not everyone gets great results, and I fear many never post so those who are contemplating surgery can read the good and the bad.
And Charles, thanks for picking up that I had surgery, I will change my signature toiday.

That's terrible, I feel extremely sorry for you. It would really help if you give us the name of the surgeon. Without that your information has much less value as far as I'm concerned.

Re: AMS LGX vs. Titan OTR
Got it. Thanks for the clarification and sorry about your situation. In light of this, I would overwhelmingly go with the model (AMS or Titan) in which the urologist/surgeon is the most familiar/comfortable/competent. My urologist would only do a Titan and infrapubic and I was totally in agreement. (Especially since I knew nothing about implants and their procedures; and thought the name "Titan" sounded cool.) In retrospect I am extremely glad that I went with his choices, as my operation could not have turned out better. Forcing a urologist into another brand/model/technique (infrapubic v.penoscrotal) would be a mistake; as would be dictating a variation in the type of tools that they were using.

Re: AMS LGX vs. Titan OTR
Can anyone address the question of service life of the implant?
If the difference in longevity is large, it could help me avoid revision. An implant that is likely to outlive me would take a load off my mind.
