Implant scheduled for September

Postby Atila007 » Wed Jul 26, 2017 12:33 am

Greetings to all,

I just joined the forum, so here is some background information about myself. I am a happily married man for almost 44 years, living in Southern California. I have ED for about 7 years due to Diabetes Type 2 since 2011. I tried Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra, but none them helped. I was offered to use the pump, but I was not thrilled about using it, I was feeling depressed and gave up, I wasn't offered any other alternative by my primary doctor. or Urologist at my HMO health plan. So I just gave up.

When I turned 65 , I enrolled in Medicare and chose to leave my HMO . So I got a new Primary Doctor and after my third visit I informed him about my ED, and right away he referred me to a Urologist who specializes in ED.

So I made an appointment with the Urologist and He offered me what options are available, besides the Viagra, like the pump, suppositories,Injections and Penile Implant . So I chose to try the infections. After I trying the injections, I only got a 25% Erection.
After a total of three visits with Urologist , He recommended the Penile Implant, which I had never heard about previously.
I did a lot of research , and I decided for the Implant. I am scheduled to have the Implant on Sept. 7. I must admit that I am nervous about the surgery , but I am encouraged by the rate of success of Penile Implants.

Welcome Attila. This is the place to get lots of info and support. I got a little over 6 weeks, and I was activated today. Pumped it up for the first time, and it felt good to have a hard dick again after about 8 months of semis. It also feels good not to have a woody all the time. In case you don't know, after implanted, the doctor leaves it partially inflated.

Hi Atila, and welcome. I'm also in southern California and have consulted with Dr Mills at UCLA. I'm still deciding whether to use a local surgeon or go to the east coast for the procedure. Can I ask who your surgeon is?

Atila, I am so sorry that your first urologist did not share this with you (one of the theories is that s/he doesn't want to lose a patient by referring you to an E.D. specialist, especially a prosthetic urologist -- one who specialized in implants).

I have heard from several guys that this has happened. One guy even told me that his urologist had told him, "Viagra doesn't work? That's all we've got. Go home." When he found out about all of the other options (including the implant), he got furious at his doctor and considered doing whatever it took to get revenge on his lying urologist. Boy, did he seem mad!

This is the place to provide support for guys who are considering or who have implants. Please feel free to talk via posts or through pm's. We are here to support one another in our fight against E.D.

Hi Attila
Welcome to the forum. I found this several months ago and it has been a great help. I was implanted July 18th 8 days ago. I'm still at home recovering. Be ready for the recovery. My doc wasn't very informative about that part or I just didn't want to hear it. He told me two weeks on my ass. I thought yea 5 days I'll be back in my office. It's 8 days and I'm not in my office. I have problems standing to take a piss. I don't know why but the addition of that pump in your sack really throws you. Just make sure you know what your in for. On day 3 you will wonder what the hell did I do? That passes and I would do it all over again. After 10 years of ed I'm great full for a solution. I can feel like a man again.. diabetic type 2 five heart bypasses in 2013. Was implanted local in Philly by my urologist. Did a great job.

Hi Warren

This is the name and address of my Urologist who specializes in Penile Implants:

La Jolla, CA 92037

Website

Dr. Siegal performed live surgery for penile prosthesis at the 2016 American Urologic Association meeting in San Diego.

I hope this info will help.

Thank you Jerry for information. I guess the complications and recovery does make me uneasy, but I am hopeful and encouraged by your message and the success rate of others.

As for any concerns about the recovery from an implant I'll say this. What I'm experiencing now 8 days after the procedure is NOTHING compared to the mental torment of losing the ability to have sex. I'd gladly have this discomfort doubled to know my concept of full manhood is going to return soon.
Became DaveKell 2.0 on July 18th with Dr. Allen Morey in Dallas, TX. AMS 700 CX implant. 18cm with 5.5 RTE's.

Dave,
Thanks for your posts. They are helping me stay the course. I can get myself all wrapped up in the recovery pain/discomfort and lose sight of the prize.
